The Albia Lions club stages the musical comedy Cornzapoppin with hillbilly background tonight and Thursday at 8 14 PM in the Albia High School auditorium. Proceeds go to the Lions welfare fund.
A stork shower was hosted Thursday at Mrs Wilbert Johnson’s home for Mrs Walter Scott with helpers Mrs Paul Spencer and Mrs Chester Sanders. Prizes went to Mrs Harold Hudgens Mrs Clifford Pfannebecker Mrs Larry Brooks and Mrs J B Day. Gifts displayed in pink and blue basket. Refreshments included date cake whipped cream and coffee. Attendees listed and gifts sent by others.
Mr and Mrs Pearl Hiner hosted a Sunday dinner for the ninth birthday of their grandson Billy Angel Guests included Rex Angel Chris Bogert and Jess Hiner parents and grandparents attended three generations marked the family celebration
Mr and Mrs Lynn Hilton and Virginia and Bobby Carter attend ed the box supper at Dale school Tuesday evening. Many neighbors and relatives were noted visiting, dining, and attending church services in nearby towns during the period covered.

Notable stops include Mrs. Bert McKern's cooperative dinner, Miss Margaret Peterson arriving from Denver, and Golden Wedding anniversary celebrations for the Hedgecocks.
A Moravia Christian church program on October 10, 1947 featured Carl Richard Hiatt and Eugene McCrory sharing accounts of their year in Korea. The two Moravia High School graduates of 1945 described army life, answered questions, and highlighted cultural contrasts. The event also included a violin quartet and various speakers, with Moravia praising returning soldiers and inviting more reports from distant postings.
Mary Rose Main and George Tracy pupils of Mrs Lillian Read performed at a Sunday afternoon recital at the Piwt Methodist church in Centervile Parents and several Moravia friends attended the event.
A surprise farewell for Mr and Mrs Jake Morris was hosted at the Harry McCrory home on Thursday night October 9 with Mrs Frank Paxton co hosting. Guests enjoyed sandwiches pickles hot coffee and cocoa and played dominoes and card games while the couple expressed thanks and planned letters to friends in Moravia Union.
The Women's Society of World Service topic We press on in a fellowship worldwide was discussed at 2 pm Friday led by Mrs Harry DuVall. Mrs Zell Callen led the business session and named Mrs E G Hawk and Miss Mabel Coulson to coordinate with church committees for Community Day of Prayer on Nov 7.
Mrs John Dodd hosted the Twentieth Century club Monday afternoon with a Pan-Americas study. Members named Pan-American nations capitals, discussed geography and nationalities, and resources were reviewed. In business, the group voted to send a Christmas package to a family at sea.

Rowena McFatridge entertained the Piast Matron's Club on a Tuesday evening. After social time, refreshments of ice cream, cake and coffee were served. Members present included Ruby Dille, Mildred Birhup, Nadine Winsler, Frances Burton, Madelyn Rose, Virginia Pettibone, Effie Gellaher, Bertha Broshar, Neel Broshar and Mel Fawridge. The next regular meeting is set for November 4 with Bertha Broshar hosting.
