Ruritan corn husking contest amid rain at Craft farm
Ruritan Club held a corn husking contest October 1 at Craft farm near Moravia. Twenty two huskers competed across three age groups with Tom Beal of Albia winning under 30 class at 109.74 points and George Kasper of Sovilia topping the over 60 group with 171.34, the day's best score.

FFA Soil Judging Contest Shines for Moravia Team Efforts
On October 4 the District FFA Soil Judging contest near Knoxville drew fourteen schools. Moravia entered two four member teams. Sophomores placed second, and Seniors third. Individual top ten included Moravia’s Jaren Tubaugh first and Craig Vance second, with Gary Coltrain third and Bryan Luse ninth. Team standings show Monroe top with 710 points, followed by others including Pleasantville, Knoxville, Newton, and Nefferson.

Ronald Woodward, longtime manager at Center ville Crescent Electric, is promoted to manager of the Crescent Electric Company in Rapid City South Dakota. He and his wife Diene and their three children Sean Shannon and Megan move this week to a new home on Circle Drive in Country Club Heights Rapid City. Michele Brown daughter of Kenneth E Brown Moravia is named a Concert Choir member at Central College where she studies sociology as a freshman. Marilyn Shelquist daughter of Ivan Shelquist Morgvia serves on publicity and makeup crews for Central College Homecoming play to be presented in Oct 2022.

Students Dig For Artifacts In School Yard
Students in Miss Bolats sixth grade and Mrs Kessels fifth grade designed a fictitious culture and buried artifacts in the school yard. On Sept 28 1977 Mrs Kessels class uncovered items near the railroad including a time bomb and rosetta stone fragments. They decoded messages in a made up language and speculated their culture Leaquatas lived in mountains.
