Moravia Reds Enjoyed a Fine Ball Season

Moravia Reds finished 14 wins in 18 games under floodlights in Moravia. Pitcher Paul Underwood dominated with 181 strikeouts and a .301 team batting average powered by 148 hits, while errors hindered clean results. The club played strong opposition from Albia Centerville Ottumwa and Bloomfield, finishing with a potent 118 runs for and 50 against.

A cooperative dinner was held on the Iconium Christian church lawn Sunday in honor of Ray Derby of Diamond Wyoming, son of Mr. and Mrs. Algie Derby, who is visiting relatives after eight years away. Moravia couple marks 50th wedding anniversary

Mr and Mrs M P Main of Moravia celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a noon 12 o clock commemoration attended by 28 guests and a 2 to 6 pm open house at their Wabash avenue home. The event included a dinner for eight guests from the wedding party and more than fifty arrivals, with yellow and white cakes and gifts from friends and relatives.

Main Family Marks Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary

The Main family celebrates 50 years of marriage as Arthur Main and his wife reflect on nearly four decades in business on the square. The shop, now part of the Moravian Union complex, has long served neighbors with Arthur C. Main later moving into Madison Wisconsin real estate. They have three children Bob Charlotte and Donald. Bob and Charlotte missed the anniversary celebration while the couple remains in good health and active in their community.

The Past Matrons club met at Mrs. A G Broshars home for a farewell party for Mrs E D Kennedy a former club president and faithful member. President Mrs C T Slavin presented a token gift as thanks for her steady service. The club lamented losing Mrs Kennedy yet celebrated her advancement. Farewells Held for Departing Ministers in Moravia

Farewell receptions for the departing Moravia ministers and their families dominated last week. The Century Club hosted Rev. Zerbe and Rev. Behreng families at Cameron home on Thursday. A Moravia M E Church and United Brethren farewell for Rev. and Mrs. W T Boston and son followed on Friday and Monday, with about one hundred attending. Boston family leaves for a new field. Behrens and Zerber families plan to depart later in the week.

Class No 9 of the Moravia Methodist Sunday School will sponsor a reception for the new minister Rev C L Ellis and his wife in the church parlors Friday evening.
