Lower Fire Rates Expected Soon in Moravia

Iowa Inspection Bureau officials inspected Moravia’s water system last week to determine the new fire insurance rate. Town Clerk Harold Burton says the system is approved, but Moravia must secure 550 feet of 2 1/2 inch fire hose and two fire nozzles. The town needs 750 feet total, with 200 feet currently on the truck. The hose should be kept on a second vehicle in town and not removed, ensuring adequate coverage if the primary truck is away. Once these requirements are met, the new fire rate is expected to drop notably.
