Rain fell overnight as a group surprised Opal Crawley for her 16th birthday. Mrs. George Howell and Clyde were in Albia Monday. Ruth Weldon and Edrie Callen attended a Cedar Falls reading demonstration by Prof. Ritter at Maple Grove schoolhouse Monday morning. Herry husked corn for Theo Miller. Cecil and Lin Howell returned to Moravia Sunday evening after vacation Thursday and Friday for the State Teachers Convention in Des Moines. Glee Callen attended a birthday Derby for Jacquelyn Winslet at the Lynch home Monday. Clyde Howell works for Lee Hiatt. Glen Jacobs and Erma Smith called at Alvin Riggle’s Sunday. Alvin Riggle and Lester were in Moravia Monday.
Blue Front community notes invite several families to gatherings with visits across Van Long and Cass Hamilton households. Movements include Raseos Pennington assisting Jim Moore, and multiple calls by Albis circles on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Long report rheumatism as a current issue.
Everett Anderson and family visited in Hocking on Sunday. M M Darby and son Russell were business callers in Moravia on Saturday. Katrine Sytsma stayed Friday night with Dorothea Darby. Martha Hyatt remains slowly improving at her Melcher home. Harley Smith visited Frank Fulton Sunday morning. Henry Sytama and family spent Sunday at the George Darby home. Rainy weather continues. Mr. and Mrs. Wm Giltner and son Billy visited the W Giltner home in Albin over the weekend. Moravia visitors included Howard Winkleman and Max McCoy. Eva Morgan of Mauiton visited with her brother A E Pence and family. Box supper at Brompton school house drew solid attendance. Miss Dora Gilman spent the weekend in Ottumwa. Dorothy Boardman and Lois Bates joined M E Church Moravia play attendance.
Mountain Pleasant area residents report Monday and Friday visits. Woodcock returns from South Dakota after two weeks away. Families including Hiatt, Yvonne, Sutcliffe, Hartsook, and Callens share weekend meals and visits across Moravia and Chas. Main place, Orrin Callen, and Stella Brown are noted in social calls.
Mrs Osa Wood and her daughter Freda left with her sister Mrs Cecil Tad. Dr L B Patterson of Unionville called on residents Monday. Mrs Frederick Koehler and son Davie Hart visited F E Boyer. Floyd Wood helped Dave Caylor this past week. Several attended the Dowd sale. Mr and Mrs D L Strunk and family visited Ray Strunk. Miss Clementine Cross called on Mrs R G Hart and Sylvia Sunday. Several attended the P T A meeting at Unionville school Monday evening.
Strunk suffered a shoulder injury when a tree limb fell during a sawing incident. Wilbur Miller is down with the flu. Bishop of Centerville works timber near the Miller church. Mrs. Hart recovering from an infected finger will be unable to use her hand much of winter. Sam Proctor visited the Ray Caltrain residence. Myrtle Fullerton and children were guests of the Fred Blumer family. Mr and Mrs Carl Coffin joined Sunday supper at the C A Coffin home in Moravia.
