A Des Moines area report notes a shopper facing four winged fryers despite proper weight. The incident prompts scrutiny of pre packaging rules under Secretary Kenny Owens. Local Moravia church services involved two girls, Mary Jo Denbest and Mary Beth Bogaard, after an intruder entered their apartment near Methodist hospital. No harm occurred and robbery is suspected as motive.
Mrs. Edward Suckow was honored at a baby shower hosted by Mrs. Minnie Moffatt on Monday November 8. About 15 guests enjoyed gifts and refreshments served by Mrs. Josie Stuckey and Mrs. Margaret Bronson. Also noted are visits from Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Stottler and daughters and a week with Vicki at grandparents.
Sympathy extends to the Garrie Ross family after his sudden death at St Joseph hospital Centerville. Visitors to Mr and Mrs John Dotson included Marie Weber and Omer Eakins with A Swaim of St Louis. Funeral attendees for Garrie Ross at Miller Wehrle included many relatives from New Buffalo to Centerville and Kansas City plus Hammond and Nashville affiliates.
The Shanghai club met with Mrs. Laura Laird on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Firkins joined supper and Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Firkins and family. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence White head and Bobby were also at Sunday activities.
A series of small social gatherings and visits occurred across local households. Families including Lowe, Steel, Sulser, Morrows, Penfields, Hawks, Christy, Morrow, and Tarbell shared meals, birthday celebrations, open houses, church events, and weekend get togethers with friends and relatives from Chariton Ottumwa Des Moines and Oskaloosa, reflecting a busy community social calendar.

Ladies serving supper to Moravia Booster club Thursday included Glennie Nona Dicks Maxine Sheldon Clara Theresa Brown. Orrin Callen and Clara Speers were Thursday supper guests Gilbert Callen home. Theresa Brown with parents to Des Moines Saturday.
Friday evening found the Aubrey Christy home hosting the Christy family with Doris Christy and others visiting Saturday and Sunday. Grandparents, Gil bert Callen and Wayne Christy families plus surrounding relatives shared meals and church attendance. Franklin Rinehart and children joined Roy Rinehart’s home Sunday evening as various relatives visited across Davenport and Quincy placements. Rev George McMullen preached at New Zilen Sunday evening.
