C Blackman Injured In Auto Crash Near Fort Collins

Charles Blackman son of Mr and Mrs M K Blackman Moravia was seriously injured in an auto crash near Fort Collins Colorado around noon Tuesday. Telegram says he suffered shock fractures of the left arm and lacerations of the right leg. His condition was serious but not critical. Mrs M K Blackman left for Fort Collins Tuesday afternoon to be with her son in the hospital.

Seventh and eighth grade students from Moravia schools plus guests enjoyed a Halloween party Saturday night hosted by Ruby Johnson at her parents home Mr and Mrs Chas Johnson. Masonic building wall repair after fire damage

Repairing Hall Wm and assistants stucco the north wall of the Masonic building damaged months ago by the Harn and Whitton fire. Lower wall repairs and decorating, belonging to the Broshar estate, are also in progress.

Mrs Wm Espy Died Suddenly At Home

Mrs William Espy 43 died suddenly at her Darby home on Thursday about 6 30 am after heart trouble. She was born in Appanoose county and lived there all her life. Survived by eight children including Mrs Cecil O Connor and Mrs Vera Boyer, a sister and five brothers. Mrs William Gardner hosted a quilting bee at her home on Thursday for her daughter in law Mrs Marvin Gardner. Future Farmers Corn Husking by the FFA in wintry harvest competition

Saturday, October 22, a group of Future Farmers members including Donald Whitehead and Doyle Hampton husked corn on 10 acres of 21 hybrid varieties. Eleven boys divided into three wagons worked in near perfect team order, five per wagon with four picking a row and one gleaning. The field was picked clean and the ears were easy to husk in cool, ideal conditions. The effort marked the first FFA activity of the year with members pledging to excel in future farmer programs.

Injured Man on Highway 60 in Albia Area

D. W. Heriford suffered a broken leg and other injuries when a car driven by W. Snell struck the wagon he rode, near the Long Tavern on Highway 60 last Wednesday around 4 o’clock. Mrs. Wa. Snell of Albia and Mrs. Emery Oliver of Peoria Illinois sustained lesser injuries. Hezel Snell rode in the car. The wagon carried corn for Sam Bell. mules spooked and ran after the crash, and all injured were rushed to Miners hospital in Albia by ambulance.
