Oehler Bros Oil of Moravia begins exclusive Texaco distribution effective November 1. They previously sold Texaco and Mid-Continent products and will expand a large service network from Moravia to Corydon with stations in Iconium Hiattsville and more. Ted F. Charles Blackman son of Mr and Mrs M K Blackman Moravia was seriously injured in an auto crash near Fort Collins Colorado around noon Tuesday. Telegram says he suffered shock fractures of the left arm and lacerations of the right leg. His condition was serious but not critical. Mrs M K Blackman left for Fort Collins Tuesday afternoon to be with her son in the hospital.
Mrs Lester Brain and Mrs Von Tracy were in Knox Ville Friday afternoon. They visited the Friday event and enjoyed Swiss steak with brown gravy mashed potatoes creamed peas and hot biscuits along with carrot and pineapple salad dessert and tea.

Rev J H Jenkins officiated at the quiet parsonage ceremony uniting Minnie Frances Suiter and Victor Gammel. A pink and white reception followed, and the couple plan to farm at the bride’s home.

Seventh and eighth grade students from Moravia schools plus guests enjoyed a Halloween party Saturday night hosted by Ruby Johnson at her parents home Mr and Mrs Chas Johnson. Games suited to the occasion provided amusement and refreshments were served at the end. Attending were Virginia Zike Verle Bell Leila Luse Jean Veach Carol Jolly Phyllis Zike Ruth Gibbons Pearl Hiner Ronald Dille Donald Brain Edward and Robert Brown Thomas Allen Robb Lyle Jones and Duane Veuch.
Repairing Hall Wm and assistants stucco the north wall of the Masonic building damaged months ago by the Harn and Whitton fire. Lower wall repairs and decorating, belonging to the Broshar estate, are also in progress.
Mrs William Espy 43 died suddenly at her Darby home on Thursday about 6 30 am after heart trouble. She was born in Appanoose county and lived there all her life. Survived by eight children including Mrs Cecil O Connor and Mrs Vera Boyer, a sister and five brothers. Funeral at Main Station M E Church Friday at 2 pm with Rev Miller officiating. burial at Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. C. E. Winsler hosted a family dinner Sunday to celebrate Mr. Winsler turning 81. Out-of-town guest Ruby Winsler of Centerville attended the event.
The Moravia Legion Post will hold a Pitch Party for men at the Post Home next Monday evening, Nov. 7th. All men invited.
Mrs William Gardner hosted a quilting bee at her home on Thursday for her daughter in law Mrs Marvin Gardner. Guests included Miss Sylvia Callen Mesdames Forrest Main Mearl Walter John Temple Lyle Hopkins Jake Morris and Mrs John Fontenelle and Mrs G Fontenelle of Albia Miss Esther Sears of Ottumwa gave a demonstration on the electric stove and a luncheon followed. Mrs Freeman Joly is ill and confined at home.
Regular meeting of Antiquity Lodge No 252 Free and Accepted Masons is scheduled for Monday evening November 7. D E Bishop will serve as worshipful master.
Udell Brethren Church resumes services next Sunday Nov 6 with new pastor Rev. Cecil Johnson coming from California. Homecoming celebration planned as repairs continue this week to ready the church for opening day inviting all attendees.
Saturday, October 22, a group of Future Farmers members including Donald Whitehead and Doyle Hampton husked corn on 10 acres of 21 hybrid varieties. Eleven boys divided into three wagons worked in near perfect team order, five per wagon with four picking a row and one gleaning. The field was picked clean and the ears were easy to husk in cool, ideal conditions. The effort marked the first FFA activity of the year with members pledging to excel in future farmer programs.
Mr. and Mrs. Harley Tisue and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McFatridge celebrated their wedding anniversaries together at the McFatridge home Sunday. A bountiful dinner was served to those present, including W. I. Lemaster, James Nash, Evelyn Stauber, Mrs. J. W. Bickford, Carl Tisue, and both couples.

The Taylor township board of trustees will hold its annual meeting at the Community Building in Moravia on Monday, November 7, at 2 PM. The notice calls for attendance by residents and outlines procedures for the meeting.
Mrs Lawrence Roland entertained at a seven o clock dinner Tuesday in honor of her husband s birthday anniversary. Guests included George Irelan and daughter Clew Madge Hough Bette Hiatt Jalie Day and Frank Swain. The honoree received many useful gifts. Mr and Mrs Ver Miller of OF WinWa were guests at the Win Jardnen lowe Poursday evenings.
Mrs Ruby Dike hosted a Sunday School Halloween party at the U B Church porches Saturday afternoon. Children enjoyed games with Mary Rose Main winning first prize for best masquerade costume and Dale Kent Mopkins second. Refreshments included cookies cocoa and candy. Attendees included Dela June Weach Mary Rose Main Patty Kathleen Halden Peggy and Date Bent Hopkins Geraldine Easter Hoyt Easter and others. Mr and Mrs Cellin and Himes Ernie Naster joined A M Pennington at their Des Moines home Sunday evening.
Miller school will host a two program supper Friday evening November 4. Attendees are invited to attend. Ardis Callen is listed as teacher.

Eurissa Turner Benson, long time Moravia native and wife of Dr. W. R. Benson, died October 29 1938 in Denver after an emergency operation. She was 56 10 17. Survived by husband daughter LaRue two sisters and a brother, plus three grandchildren. Funeral services were held November 1 at Shaw Funeral Home with Eastern Star aid and burial at Mountain View Cemetery Lunygment.

D. W. Heriford suffered a broken leg and other injuries when a car driven by W. Snell struck the wagon he rode, near the Long Tavern on Highway 60 last Wednesday around 4 o’clock. Mrs. Wa. Snell of Albia and Mrs. Emery Oliver of Peoria Illinois sustained lesser injuries. Hezel Snell rode in the car. The wagon carried corn for Sam Bell. mules spooked and ran after the crash, and all injured were rushed to Miners hospital in Albia by ambulance.
