New Life At United Brethren Church Welcomes Youth

Last Sunday’s all day service drew a large turnout. A new CBE Society renews life as the church invites more young people to attend, with 10 am Sunday School and 11 am Morning Worship. Dr. Aldrich of Des Moines speaks Thursday at 7:30 on Christian Getters.

The M E Church quarterly meeting is set for tonight with District Superintendent W S Kersey to preside. Members are urged to attend as important church business will be discussed. A new walk is under construction at the new church and the basement floor is being prepared for concrete.

Sudden Death of Edwin Charles Sincox

Edwin Charles Sincox died at the Tama Iowa home of his son Harry on October 24 1927 after a period of ill health. His daughter Myrtle Erickson was notified and he died that evening. Funeral services were held at the Albia M E Church conducted by Rev B F Schwartz with Antiquity Lodge No 252 Moravia presiding at the grave.

Cattle and hog shipments from Moravia to St Louis market

Mgr Hawk of the Co Op Marketing Association accompanied a shipment of one car of cattle and two of hogs to the St Louis market Monday. Eight cars of live stock have been shipped from Moravia by the shipping association in the past ten days.

WeAninch and Tarbell Sale Thursday at McAninch Farm

MeAninch and Tarbell will hold a public sale at the John McAninch farm three miles west of Iconium today commencing at 11 o'clock a m. About 240 head of livestock including cattle horses mules sheep and hogs will be sold. The offering is unusually large and the sale will be largely attended.

Obituary for Emmett R. Miller of Moravia

Emmett R. Miller lifelong Moravia resident dies at home near Moravia October 28 1927 at age sixty four. He married Louise Young in 1884 and leaves five children two daughters surviving siblings and six grandchildren. Funeral at United Brethren Church Moravia with Rev Fix and Rev Thompson, burial in Moravia cemetery. Card of Thanks expresses gratitude for support and flowers.

Moravia Russell battled to a 6 to 6 tie as Kenneth Cullers intercepted a Russell pass at the five and returned it for a Moravia touchdown. Russell rallied in the fourth, but failed on a PAT, leaving the game scoreless after a back and forth first half.

Furniture Man Proclaimed The Most Beautiful In Lions Club

George H. Cathcart Ou Luria furniture dealer named the most beautiful man at a Lions Club meeting in Hotel Ontirry. He received an autographed Norma Talauadge photo and theatre tickets. Other contenders included Dr P Rassumesen and Will Adgis Upland. E G Hawk reports record lamb weight in Moravia. 53 bushes sold for 315.05. He claimed 70 bushes of refined ster from 46 ewes and praised the gain versus seizing corn.

Masons Enjoy Banquet in Maravia Atmosphere

More than eighty Masons attended a Friday banquet in Maravia at the Karso building dining hall. The M E Ladies Auxiliary served at 6:30 pm and Hallows Eve decor adorned the setting. About thirty five Albid Lodge members joined the event and additional visitors participated in the evening’s third degree work.

Largest Turnip Patch in Appanoose County Details

H R Hicks of Unionville reports a massive turnip patch near seven to eight feet wide and about a mile long. The crop yielded monsters, including a three and a half pound turnip pulled Sunday afternoon. The patch could feed much of Appanoose County. Miss Claudine Townsend visited Ames, Iowa for the weekend with her sister Helen.
