WAR BONDS AND LOCAL LIFE NOTES FROM CHARITON
A collage of small town items: the 64th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs A J Hahn, the birth of a great grandchild Georgia Jane, and Billy Parrish’s sinus case resolved after doctors diagnosed a nasal button found near the lungs. Chicago doctors and 30 specialists confirmed the button’s five to six year presence before removal. Evelyn G Smith of Crystal Lake changes title to Mrs and marries Calvin L Smith of Kanawha. Burglar tale ends with empty safe and a open invitation for the combination. Pete English noted as a strong fisherman from a Belmond area fishing Iowa river trip. Eldora’s Old Settlers saw 95 year old William Elerding attend.

Forgetful farmer's milking mishap in town
A poem narrates a town man who forgets the milking pail twice, causing him embarrassment but shared humor. The speaker notes everyone errs at times and hints at a broader memory lapse, closing with an unrelated gift line about Moravian Union subscriptions.
