Town council advances sewer project after years of paperwork

In a Tuesday night meeting Rays Ramblin's council discussed the sewer system, noting the vast volumes of state and federal paperwork tied to the project. Officials said funds are to be returned to taxpayers rather than diverted to large urban projects, as construction nears after six to eight years of filings amid an election year context.

Sewer planning spans small towns to Moravia area

The report notes several towns at the same sewer planning stage as Moravia while others began projects last summer. It cites Bob Carter in Moravia's Morning Sun notices selling sewer bonds, Cantril and Bonaparte moving toward construction in the next two months. Farmers report rain delaying corn planting, Rathbun lake sees spring crowds, vandalism of a lake restroom, and new camping fees possibly upcoming at Kansas and Missouri lakes. Memorial Day weekend looms with closures and graveside visits.
