Unionville residents celebrate Charley Dommer’s return from the Navy with a class day talk. Commencement at the M E Church featured an address by Rev A A Heath and diploma presentations. Decoration Day plans, local travels, and visits from relatives fill the district page along with a note on vaccination for hog losses and summer study plans for A L Lyon and Leonard.
Mr and Mrs Zell Wilson announce the birth of Tilmon LeRoy on May 4. Mr and Mrs E C Custer and Mr and Mrs Robert Jennings and families were callers in Albis Saturday evening. Several families spent Sunday at various homes including the Sytsma, VanDorin, Johnson, and Sineux households.
Sunday evening social rounds appear around Mt Pleasant and Iconium as families like Clark Besen McCrory McCrory Rabingon Gillaspie Woodcock and Callen share visits. Neighboring activities include ladies aids meeting at Mrs Woodcock and Audrey Callen visiting.
Mr and Mrs Cap Dicks and Mr and Mrs Earl Swift spent Sunday at the HG Brown home. Mrs Will VanDorin Mrs W fi Kelsey and Jane Murphy were business callers in Oskaloosa Monday. Dr Moran of Melrose was called to see Mrs Alta Gard Sunday who is sick. Ned Argo home guests included C B Argo George Argo and family Frank Argo and sons Eugene Jim Dennie. Rev Matsler wife and children shared Sunday dinner at Lloyd Beaty. Dr Harris of Mystic was called to see George Rinehart Monday afternoon. Mary Rinehart, sick for some time, is better. Orlo Funkhouser family spent Sat night and Sun at I L Funkhouser home. Mrs James Blawick called at Ben Whithead Monday afternoon.
Franklin Township residents many family visits and gatherings this weekend. Delbert Fry works for BE. F. Stansberry. Amy Hiner assists Mrs Tarr with cleaning. Bill McFatridge hosted family Friday. Marjorie McFatridge and Frances Stansberry shared time Friday night. A dance occurred at Bill Stevens home. Everett Stansberry and Herbert Dodge attended Albia and Iconium callers. J R Argo and wife spent Sunday at the Sytsma home near Moravia. Genevieve McFatridge returned to Moravia after a short stay. Bill Stevens’s barn burned Saturday night with unknown ignition. Sunday guests at Bill McFatridge’s included Avia McFatridge, Hugh, Cecil McPatridge, Oberlin, Lea, Ralph Hoffman, and Genevieve Mec- coming from Moravia area.
Fatridge R W Hoffman wife and daughter Vivien visited Sunday at Rollie Brown home. Mrs Coy Stuift slowly improving. Eugene Argo back to health after long illness. Hay Rinehart and sons John Stanley Henry Louis Richard Ray Ben visited parental Rinehart home in Albia Sunday. Marie Dodge Velda spent weekend at BE Stansberry home. Charley Runnels family and Rubye Elsie Ralph Floyd Boyd visited Sunday in Ottumwa with Pearl and wife.
Hiattville reports the marriage of Dwight Weatherly and Wilma McDanel at Centerville M E Parsonage with Rev. Schwartz officiating. Congratulations to the couple. Local social notes include dinners, graduation events at Moravia High, and visits among families. Lydia Eaton of Norwood, formerly of the area, dies at 86, with funeral in Norwood attended by Hiatt and related families. Mrs. Eaton had deep ties to Moravia.
