Farmers in Moravia face continued wet conditions delaying sowing with corn and oats only partly planted. Community leaders push development plans and promote Rathbun Lake access, including a lighted Moravia sign and upcoming smaller signs to guide traffic. A simple pamphlet on local roads is under consideration.
Sent and future notes on the lake region suggest interested parties can identify good sites for homes and business development. Moravia is expected to progress with community cooperation guiding toward the best interests of the whole town.
Sunday guests included Coulson by Mrs. Theo Miller with Mr. and Mrs. Francis Miller and others. Several families shared dinners and visits from Albia to Ottumwa, Des Moines to Pella, with trips to the Ozarks and tulip displays, highlighting community ties and personal gatherings.
Enrollment at Moravia elementary schools has filled the building. Voters approved moving the 7th and 8th grades to the high school and constructing an addition for the junior high. Board plans renovations to upgrade the elementary building to first class status.
Shirley Calhoun and her mother Thelma Calhoun spent the weekend with relatives in Le on and Carol. The Earl Swifts were guests of Clair and Mrs Long and Jeffrey at Maple Buffet Knoxville. They visited Pella and Red Rock dam. Arlington’s Mrs Edward Baker visited her father Coy Swift for several days. A farewell reception for Rev and Mrs Ogden drew many locals at the EUB church Moravia Wednesday night. Families including Kelloggs Ammons Calhouns and Derbys spent time in Oska loosa Albia and Chariton. Shrine Circus in Des Moines. Junior and Senior prom at Albia. extended visits and dinners noted across Monroe County.

Mary Dotto Calhoun Swift, born September 6, 1885 in Appanoose County Iowa, died May 5 1987 at Monroe County Hospital Albia at age 81. Funeral May 7 1967 at Iconium Methodist Church officiated by Rev J A Ogden. Burial Iconium Cemetery. Surviving spouses Coy Swift and three daughters Leona Ekwall Lois Baker Lucille Stutler, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
The Coy Swift Family expresses sincere thanks to relatives friends and neighbors for sympathy flowers memorial gifts and acts of kindness at the death of their wife and mother. They especially appreciate food and help with chores during the time of bereavement.

The Franklin Happy Helpers held their regular meeting at Judy and Debbie Fosenburgs home with eight members and six visitors present. Sharon Penfield led, discussions covered old and new business and Father Daughter night, and demonstrations on sewing buttons hooks and hems were given by Sherry McCannon Joyce Christy Constance Thompson and the Fosenburgs. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Fosenburg and the two hosts.
Mrs Herb Boblenz attended a 4-H meeting in Centerville Saturday afternoon.
Fairfield and Deg Moines guests visit Cleo Ragan and R. S. Faber homes. Doris Long’s birthday dinner at Carriage Light Inn features Mildred Sawyer and others. Prairie City and Knoxville trips described with family gatherings, school events, and calls on neighbors. Des Moines and Ottumwa mentions wrap local social roundups.
