Two rural school buildings at Liberty and Hardscratch and their contents were sold at auction. One building near Kel oemaut on Jusonville Road brought 147.50 dollars. Total income from the sale of buildings and contents was not fully reported.

Howard Harper resigns as Appanoose County Farm Bureau chief
Howard Harper, known as Shorty, resigned Tuesday as president of the Appanoose County Farm Bureau to take a position with the Agricultural Service Company at Palo Alto County. He will move with his wife and family from near Moravia to Emmetsburg around June 1, and closes out the farm with Brown Swiss cattle and machinery. Harper has been active in farm groups since service discharge, led the county Bureau since January 1, and previously served as Unionville American Legion post commander. The Emmetsburg firm is a wide distributor of petroleum products tires feeds fertilizers sprays medicines and other farm necessities.

Comstock Infant Dies and Services Held
Funeral services were held at the Cecil Comstock home Monday, May 3, at 10:00 a.m. for Wayne Matthew, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Comstock, born May 4:40 a.m. He lived five hours. Riv. Bob Zimmerman of Sovilla had charge of services and burial. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Pella, Iowa.

Farewell Reception Honors Church Members and Choir

Fire Turns Two Homes To Ash As Mrs McGrighy Dies
Fire damaged the Wayne Clark home near Moravia on Thursday 8:30 am and led neighbors to relocate belongings to a former Hedge College building, which was remodeled into a new home by Tuesday. Mrs Rosa Zella McGrighy 69 died of a stroke Saturday after visiting her husband at the McGhehy station when smoke from the fire was sighted. She was born May 17, 1884 in Davis county and survived by Amos McGrighy her husband and eight siblings, several children and grandchildren. The Turner Funeral home scheduled services for Wednesday at 2:00 pm with burial at Taylor cemetery.
