Moravia prepares to graduate 32 seniors next Tuesday in a commencement ceremony. Moravia school bands and chorus perform a Wednesday evening program as part of Band Tag Day to raise funds for state contest travel. The program features parade pieces, mixed chorus selections, Boys Glee Club numbers, and concert band pieces with notes on uniforms and piano accompaniment limitations. Helen Carter of Des Moines visited last week with Bette Hiatt and kin.
Workmen in Moravia City Park set out fifteen elm trees ranging from 14 to 16 feet tall. The trees were sourced from the Chariton river bottom as part of a reforestation program aimed at restoring the park after years of loss.

Young men aged 17 to 24 are invited to join the 80 day C M T C training camp. All expenses paid to and from camp and during enlistment for those selected. Inquire at the Union office with H K Smith for details and application blanks.

Members of Moravia Chapter C. E. invite to attend a group meeting at Seymour school gymnasium Thursday of this week. Grand officers will be in attendance. Chapter officers participating include Mrs. Bertha Broshar Mrs. Ora Selby and C A Burton. J P Coffin and P K Horner were in Centerville Thursday.
The Moravia Community Club reports 39 members so far this year, surpassing previous totals. Roscoe Day and Albert Veach led outreach for memberships as business and professional people join, with plans to top forty. Twenty eight members attended a noon luncheon at the Church of Christ dining room where W. O. Steel praised the club and spoke on banking topics. Bert Turner welcomed Rev. T. J. Ike who urged greater community cooperation in social and economic efforts.
The dental office of Dr. D. K. Orelup in Moravia is now updated after a complete redecorating during the past week.
Mayor P. K. Horner warns violators of Moravia ordinances including chicken confinement, speed limits, and sidewalk bicycle riding. He urges public cooperation and asks parents to guide children, noting riding in the business district is especially dangerous. Attendance at a recent W M A Convention in Toledo is noted for local residents.
Moravia sends three groups and one soloist to the Iowa state contest in Iowa City and Carroll. Under Wilbur Harris, Moravia vocal groups make their first state appearance, with Moravia band also competing. Events run Friday morning through Saturday afternoon with broadcast planned for WSUI.
Moravia high school junior James Hilton has been selected to attend Hawkeye Boys State at Camp Dodge, Des Moines, June 3 to 10. Sponsored by Moravia Community Club and Baail Cowell Post, American Legion, the program aims to teach citizenship through a eight day mock government with mythical parties and city county assignments. Hilton, son of Lyn Hilton, will report on his experiences upon return.
Relatives extend sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence W. Slauson on the death of their son Lawrence William Jr. at St. Joseph hospital Centerville at 10:45 a.m. Monday. Born Feb 24 1936 in Las Vegas Nevada the 4 year old was ill two weeks and died after a Sunday admission. Funeral at Turner Funeral Home May 3 2:30 p.m. with Rev. R L Brown. interment at Denny cemetery.
