Zone Rally to Be Held in Moravia by Nazarene Churches
On Friday evening May 2 the Nazarene churches of the Chariton zone stage a zone rally in Moravia with District Young People's president Forrest Whit latch in charge and Rev. Joe L. Bean of Indianapolis as special speaker. The Methodist church permits use of its auditorium for the public service at 7 45 pm featuring service and singing. Moravia school board contracted Larry G. Dayton as Vocational Agriculture instructor for the coming term. Dayton, 27, a June Iowa State College graduate from Deep River, will begin duties July 1 after army service. They visited Janet Smith at the University Hospital in Iowa City where she is improving and doing school work with a daily visiting teacher. Janet remains homesick but cheerful. Hooks or Crooks is the school play set for May 1 at the school house. Mrs. Melissa Felton and companions attended funeral services for her brother-in-law Walter Keeler in Marshalltown. Mr. and Mrs. M. K. Blackman traveled to Kansas City on the Southwest Limited, visiting relatives for a few days before returning Friday.

A joint Monroe and Appanoose county education board hearing approved moving a Hilton area slice near the Hilton church into Moravia district with only three farms seeking inclusion. Rev Guy to Speak at Masonic Banquet for 50 Years

Moravia FFA members attended the Iowa state convention with two drivers Walter Paris and Bernie Valentine and ten boys including David West and Lester Dooley. They arrived in Sioux City at 7:30 am after leaving Moravia at 1:00 am, checked in at the Sheraton-Martin, and attended registration. The morning featured Iowa State Farmer ceremonies honoring David West among 206, with practice sessions for Argo and Dooley. Governors, speeches, and musical selections followed, and the Moravia group toured Nebraska and South Dakota before returning home about 1:00 pm.
