Farm Bureau women of Appanoose County hosted the largest Achiev ement Day celebration of its kind on March 8 1980 at the Association of Commerce Rooms in Centerville directed by County Chairman Mrs Howard Ballew. Exhibits opened to visitors around 10 p m with a 1 30 p m program led by Victor Ross and featuring a song by Rosa. County Agent Lea Bowdish praised women for strengthening the Farm Bureau and noted men’s support. Ballew urged township cooperation for Home Management classes starting next September and highlighted democracy and the power of organized effort as U S contributions. The seven active townships aim to organize non active ones and expand the Farm Bureau in Appanoose. The three display booths from Vermilion Wells and Walnut showcased Fourth Year Course in Clothing lessons. Vermilion led with 974 points, Wells 971, Walnut 968, while Walnut’s demonstrations and poster earned top recognition alongside Mrs Gillis.
