Measures For Prevention Of Pork Disease
The Iowa health department urged farmers and consumers to prevent trichinellosis after a Lowden outbreak linked to smoked sausage. Refrigeration or thorough cooking is advised, with temperatures of five degrees above zero for 20 days or ten below zero for 10 days, or six days at 20 below. Smoking before eating is safer, and pork should be cooked until white if not refrigerated. Fear in Lowden is natural but controllable with proper measures.

Several Factors Considered In Computing Corn Ceiling Prices
Des Moines OPA District director Walter D. Kline notes that ceiling prices for corn depend on No 2 yellow shelled grade with moisture under 15 percent. Deductions apply for higher moisture or grades below No 2. Ear corn must be cheaper than shelled by shelling value. Local boards will issue full price information. Buyers and sellers should verify price by grade and moisture, as small market differentials can push a sale above the ceiling. Mrs. Donald Kaster visits Creston, staying with her parents Mr. and Mrs. BE. S. Kaster.
