Cotton acreage allotments set for 1941 by AAA
The Agricultural Adjustment Administration announced preliminary state cotton acreage allotments totaling 28,699,917 acres for 1941. If similar to 1999 and 1940, these allotments would plant about 26,000,000 acres, yielding around 12,500,000 bushels. The 1940 crop was 12,686,000 bales from 24,078,000 acres, averaging 252.4 pounds per acre. Planted acreage in 1940 was 25,079,000 acres, versus preliminary 1940 allotment of just over 27,000,000 acres.
