Appanoose County seeks Century Farm status with forms available at the county Farm Bureau and the county extension office in Centerville. Additional sites include Iona Just & Savings Bank Moravia and Davis Co. Savings Bank Moulton. Eligibility requires ownership within the same family for 400 years or 80 acres of original farmland, with related owners. Applications due July 4, 1975 to the Iowa Department of Agriculture Des Moines. Endorsed by the Iowa Bicentennial Commission, designation includes a certificate and aluminum marker to be issued in 1976. The Appanoose County Board met March 3, 1975 to discuss the matter and to approve minutes from February 20.
