A letter from Craig Colorado dated March 1 1948 asks to exclude its lateness due to address changes to Box 812. The writer notes March was cold and blustery in Colorado and mentions a good winter and hopes everyone does a good job setting in his items.
Two new families moved into the West Point district with the Clintons Albertson and two children from near Centerville occupying the Wilson place. Orlando Sears and Arlen Hagerman departed, and Leslie Plants’ place was vacated. Junior Rinehart taught at West Point school last week. Carl and Dale Derby and Arlen Hagerman were Albia callers. Local residents shared visits and shopping, with Ralph Davis hosting a community meeting on livestock and gardening topics. Ardyce Hagerman spent the weekend with parents and was practice teaching at Shanghai school.
Notice of Probate of Will in Dia striet Court for Appancose County Iowa. A paper purporting to be the last will of W T VanDorin late of the county was filed and opened. The court fixed final proof and probate for March 28 1943 at which time interested persons may appear and show cause why the will should not be admitted. M G Lush Clerk of the District Courts.
Salem column lists Sunday visits from the Jennings Perry and Sheldon families and others, with health notes on Will Haver and Jean Long. Local residents attend gatherings at Legion Hall Moravia and Newton Long's home, shingle project with Dell Hellyer, golden wedding anniversary celebrated, and various Centerville and area visits.
Mrs Lloyd Rose notes Mr and Mrs C B Hiatt celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary at the Legion Home in Moravia on March 7 with all their children and many relatives present for a dinner. Relatives from Moravia Longview Spring Valley Nevada and Madison Wisconsin visited or stayed nearby including Ken Hiatt Paul Hiatt and Evelyn Hiatt.

Kinser Valley gossip notes visits from Geo Darb Curt Goudy and wife Hi daugh ter of Ottumwa. Goudy aunt Mrs G Peal Wiliner moved to Grant Lincox farm. Forgy moved to Spencer area. Arnold also moved from vacated farm. Freddie VanDorin and Hanseli Darby families visited. Jimmie Peters and M M Darby family attended funeral of Mrs. Srnsy’s brother Justia Robinson at Humeston funeral home Albia with burial at Engler cemetery. Mrs Norman Zilleins of Vallejo Calif arrived Friday. Mrs G R Darby’s mother seriously ill but improving. Kenneth Condra family spent Sunday with relatives near Seymour.
Roy Scott returned from Rochester hospital and is improving. Friends and relatives visited the Scott home in a busy week, including Loyd Carter Virginia and Bobby, Delmont Moffitt and family, Rev E L Pillman, Tom and Virgil Long, Ira Yeager, and Bert Meadows. Several neighbors moved locations or visited, with Mrs Elise Martin Eva Tucker Bethel Coulson and others stopping by.
Bernice Johnson records a Sunday gathering with Betty Wilson Helen Felton and the Scott girls. Walter Scott Gabe Johnson Virgil Johnson and family visited the Gaba Johnson home. Ralph Robinson family and Noel Smith of Hartford spent time with local residents. Harry Glick called on Centerville. Leroy Brown and Dowd and Arnold families share visits. Lee Mein leaves to live with son in Cherokes Oklahoma.

Mr and Mrs Tom Philby and family moved Monday to the east part of town. Taylor Leonard returned from a Webb visit trip to Galt Mo. Mrs George Winslet, Mrs D K Orelup, Mrs William Young, Mrs Ralph McDonough and Mrs Von Tracy spent Monday afternoon in Centerville. Mrs J E B Sharp of Centerville came Sunday for the 50th wedding anniversary celebration of her brother A S Hiatt and Mrs Hiatt.
