Moravia Community School District voters go to the polls Monday at the community building east entrance to choose two board members for a three year term. Incumbents Carl VanZante and Jack Martin are on the ballot with write-ins limited to director districts 2 or 4. Voters also select a member of the Appanoose County Board of Education, with Kermit Gladfelder seeking re election.

Mary Burns observed her 80th birthday February 24 as 9 family members gathered at her Centerville home for a chicken dinner and a decorated cake. Attendees included three daughters Zoe Cox Florence Undervrood Lucille Taylor and three sons Leon Russell Paul E Burns with several daughters in law and a son-in-law Dayne Taylor. Mary, widow since 1940, long active in Moravia and Unionville communities, knows 40 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren among her many relatives and friends who sent cards and gifts.
