The Hap py Helpers 4-H club held a Saturday February 27 1960 meeting at Mary and Nancy Mosley s home. Officers read minutes and reported finances while members donated to Heart Fund polio and Care. Presentations included Nut Bread by Shirley Calhoun and Muffins by Nancy Mosley and Sandra Whitehead with demonstrations on mixing.
The February Union Live Wires meeting was held at Ralph Roberts residence with 12 members present including Wilbur Strunk and Gary Roberts. They discussed the skating party camp and 4-H week. Lois Strunk reported on the Centerville Town meeting. Joe Wilson led the group.
A brief report notes a 4-H meeting closing with the pledge and refreshments served by Mrs. Roberts. The event included a demonstration on How to Test Seil and concludes with plans for the next meeting at the Gaylord Main home, reported by Michael West.
The Taylor-ettes 4-H held its February gathering led by president Diana Judge in Booster club rooms. Members pledged to the flag after roll call and shared food pictures. Minnie Ann Condra spoke on Why Plan Meals and Penny Prough on Things to Consider in Planning Meals. Janice McDonough and Pat Judge demonstrated Simple Centerpieces. Slides on quick breads were shown and refreshments served by Condra, the Proughs, and Penny. Reporters were Linda Judge and Connie Boblenz.
District Court in Appanoose County Iowa announces probate for the will of Anna Leona Lurber deceased. The filing occurred February 17 1960 with final proof and probate set for March 21 1960, at which time interested parties may appear to contest. The Moravia Iowa council set a March 16 1960 meeting at 7 30 PM at the Moravia Fire Station for owners and interested parties to speak on the proposed water main improvement district. The plan outlines lines numbered 6 through 25 detailing 4 inch mains along streets including Highway 60 North Street Trussell Milwaukee Church West and Chariton with distances 230 to 1780 feet and total district lengths. Town Clerk W H Burton notes assessment boundaries costs and final adoption of the resolution of necessity will be decided at the hearing.
