About 128 mothers and daughters attended the George Washington Bicentennial Mothers and Daughters banquet at the Methodist church on Thursday evening February 28. Rev B G Hankins led the event with a dinner by church men and a program featuring solos duets and readings by local ladies and out of town visitors.
T. J. Ray, known as Uncle Tom, died at his granddaughter Mrs Mildred Bever’s Centerville home on Sunday night February 28 from a stroke. Born May 18 1848 in Indiana he lived in Scattersburg and Iconium most of his life. Survived by a daughter and a stepson among his family, funeral services were held Christian church Mystle March 1 at 1 pm with burial in Sales cemetery near Scattersburg.
The annual Vosburgh school reunion for teachers and former pupils will be hosted by J C Firkins at his home on March 16 1992. Attendees are asked to bring a noon lunch basket and enjoy a day of fellowship with former classmates and staff.

Mr and Mrs Nell Burton and their daughter of Richland were visiting relatives when they returned to their Richland home about 10 80 in the evening to find firemen at work extinguishing a blaze. Almost everything in the house was badly damaged.

Moravia high school declamatory speakers won three seconds in the Preliminary State contest here last Friday night. Centerville took all three firsts while Moravia pushed for top honors but the judges favored Centerville. Moravia entrants were Harris Stafford The Man of Steel Dorothy Lau Dodd Filizabeth Arlene Dodd Barnyard Blunders. Centerville entries included Gene Sebbon Vivian Speak and Mary Ellen Grazian. Other schools Udell Unionville joined the event with Troubadour orchestra and local music between divisions.
A A Waughop, 55, died Monday afternoon at 2 30 in Sewal Iowa from heart failure. Known in Moravia from time with his sister Miss Maie Waughop at the Moravia Hotel and once employed with high brothers C C Waughop and Hal Waughop at the Waughop garage. Home was Sewal where he had lived for years. Funeral services were held at Sewal Wednesday at 1 30 PM.
Moravia high school boys basketball meets Cinjee in the sectional tournament at Bloomfield tomorrow at 11 AM. Moravians, defeated twice by Cincinnati this season but hold one win, aim to even the series in the tourney. Hiatt of Lutesville, Mo., spent the weekend here with his family.

Miss Gertrude Utterback received a letter postmarked Mt. Vernon dated February 22, 1932 the bicentennial birthday of George Washington. It was sent by Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Henderson of Washington DC. The Mt. Vernon post office operated for one day to mark the event with stamps and special cancels.

Moragia left the court at halftime with an 8 to 6 lead, but Loyilia rallied to take the advantage and seal the victory.
The Parent Teachers Association held a regular meeting in the high school study hall Monday afternoon at 9 30 o clock. An announced program featured talks on preparing girls to be wives and boys to be husbands, plus camp training value for youth and musical interludes by the school quartette and glee club.

Burial was in Fairview cemetery. Born October 16 1840 in ApPanoose County he died February 23 1932 aged 71 years 4 months 12 days.
