Moravia hosts a band benefit on Thursday evening March 8 at the school gym. Proceeds fund new band music and support from Inter-Club Council urged. Program includes band selections solos duets and readings. further details to be announced.
At the County Republican Convention in Centerville last Saturday Chester Broshar of Moravia was named one of seventeen delegates to the state convention to be held in Des Moines on March 5. The meeting mainly endorsed a proposed state primary road bond issue with pledges to support it at the special session and in the November general election.

Indebtedness to the F. A. Reich Lumber Co requires immediate settlement. Attorney Tolbert Moore from Des Moines spent the weekend visiting the community and called at the residence of C. W. Moore.
The Reich Lumber Co. of Moravia was sold last Saturday to Turner and Son. The deal includes lumber stock buildings and real estate and ends a 45 year family business once known as Reich & Maiken. No future plans are announced beyond continuing current operations with larger volume to reduce costs and improve service.

A lifetime farmer born in Appanoose County, he graduates Iowa Wesleyan College and served in World War I with the American Legion. The Union publisher endorses him as a straight forward, well qualified candidate for Appanoose County voters.
A letter to H E Glick from the President of the Producers Livestock Commission Association in St Louis commends the Moravia Co Operative Marketing Association management. The note calls the shipping association annual report outstanding and complete, praising good business judgment and cooperative support amid market service efforts. Moravia basketeers staged a come back to beat Russell High 18 to 9 in their last home game, with Moravia leading 13 to 6 at halftime. The team, coached by Boller's boys, faces Farmington in the sectional tournament at Centerville this Friday night, with potential semi final Saturday if they win. Moravia’s lineup included C. Cullers, K. Cullers, Col Jaber, V. Kaster, Slavin, E. Kastey.

Equipment includes a Nestley Circling Machine for permanents, chairs and fixtures. Centerville report notes two cars stolen near the Majestic Theatre in one night. A Ford Coupe owned by Glen Shanahan was found abandoned in City Park, while a Ford roadster owned by Russell Bouhek of Moravia, license B-2937, remains missing. Total winter car borrowings reach about 26.

Norman Firkina of Moravia High School won first place in the humorous class at the County Declamatory Contest in Cincinnati. He had prior wins in Moravia Home Contest and Sub-County at Mystic.
