If the rains hold up tonight Thursday Moravia high school hosts three ball games at the ball diamond with a dedication and uniformed Players music and a lively atmosphere. Early arrival offers better vantage points as Babe Ruth and Little League enthusiasm draws strong crowds with spirited chants and typical umpire disagreements in a nostalgic take on local baseball fun.
An editorial urges keeping sports light and wholesome for youths, discourages tempers and abuse of fireworks. It warns that louder fireworks pose risks of property damage and severe injury, stressing moderation, discretion, and enforcement akin to major crimes.
Congratulatory notices follow a wedding for Mr. and Mrs. Jody Gillaspie. The reception hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Winston Pace included cake and punch for many relatives and friends from Albia Des Moines Davenport Moravia Moulton and nearby areas. A drive in Wednesday evening marked Christine Graves's going away party. Guests at a dinner at the Fairview community center included Mrs. Frank Conway of Evergreen Park Illinois, Mrs. Lee Harper and many others from Chicago. Afternoon callers included Estel Wolver and Earl Espy. Norma Clayworth visited Christine Long Saturday night. Bill Christine Sheryl and Susanne Long attended the McGee funeral at Melrose on Wednesday. Nora and Bob Fenton of Jerome called at the Harry Clayworth home Monday.
Coulson by Mrs Theo Miller and Mr and Mrs Ernest Hintt with Mike McDanel spent Saturday in Camanche and Rockford then returned home Monday morning. Lloyd Cline was reported somewhat improved. Various neighbors and relatives visited or hosted gatherings with the Millers including WSCS attendees and visits to Oskaloosa and Grand Rapids with plans for Butterworth Hospital.
Mrs Wayne McDanel and family hosted Cyril McDanel’s home as Carl returned from two weeks away. Wayne McDanel Dewayne Robinson Trenton McDanel traveled to Des Moines Friday. Larry Long and Loren visited Bill Long’s home Tuesday for a weeklong stay. A family dinner Sunday at Bill Long’s featured Larry Long Loren Tom Pettibone and Maude Me.
Pamela Morrison and Steven Probasco exchanged wedding vows at Unionville Methodist Church on June 21 at 7 30 p.m. Rev Gaylon L Decious officiated. The bride wore a self designed empire gown in white lace with brocade skirt and carried yellow roses and fuji mums. Maid of honor Candy Morrison and best man Jerry Probasco led a party of ushers. A reception followed with about 100 guests. The bride will continue at McGraw Edison. the groom, a 1965 Moulton Udell grad, is in the U S Army at Ft Lewis. Out of town guests came from Des Moines Cedar Rapids Center ville Swisher Drakesville and other towns.
Donald and Hila Horstman visit. Mr. and Mrs. John Main call Sunday evening at the Hill Long home. Mrs. Kenneth Daniels and Eugene travel to Iowa City to stay with Robert Sheldon. Ruby Whitehead dines at the B F Whitehead home. George Rinehart family spend weekend at Merle Short home in Des Moines. Larry Whitehead from Chariton joins war buddy Larry Woodruff of Butte Nebraska for dinner at B F Whitehead home. Donald and Dicks family vacation guests arrive from Fremont California to Truxton Dicks and Max Martin homes. Clayton Sheldon hosts Sunday dinner with Filo Frame Frame and Michele Frame from Des Moines and Cindy.
Mrs Dick Bown notes a 4 H demonstration workshop in Albia on Tuesday afternoon. Edith Callen visited Nora Dicks Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services for Timothy McGee were held Wednesday in Melrose. Multiple local residents attend social and church gatherings through the week and near Otumwa.
Clark of Columbus Junction. Mrs Wayne Thompson and Con stance visited the Delbert Calhoun home Sunday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Merle Dicks and Mr and Mrs Wayne Christy attended the Walter Benjamin wedding Sunday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Lewis Rinehart and twin grandsons Raymond and James Mallonee spent Sunday afternoon at the Ray Rinehart home. Mrs Sibyl Whitehead and Mrs Pearl Shahan attended a farewell for Rey and Mrs Marler at the Albia Christian church Sunday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Paul Dicks and family, Mr and Mrs Don Dicks and daughters, and Mr and Mrs Traxton Dicks attended the Scott family reunion in Des Moines Sunday. Mr and Mrs Russell Brown visited at the Bert Rinehart home in Albia Sunday evening. Mr and Mrs Gerald Rinehart and family spent Sunday evening at the Ray Rinehart home. Brad and Mr and Mrs Roy Argo spent Sunday evening at the Everett Agans home in Albia. Wayne Thompson and Marcia were Monday afternoon visitors of Theresa Brown.
Mrs Burdett Cox and Nyle host visits with Burdett Cox Rowena Logan and family in Union Township. Glen Lockman from Compton California visited, Nyle Cox spent Saturday with Keith Hoffman and family, and Paul Cridlebaugh Joe Paula joined Sunday visits. Burdett delivered sad news to Moravia relatives before returning home.
