Officials at the Lake Wapello fishing and boating center are enforcing long standing fishing and boating laws. Every boat must be inspected and passenger capacity noted. Boats with 5 hp motors require licenses with numerals on both sides. Boating launching and fishing regulations must be followed. A couple can be seen by appointment at Jim Wilson’s home. Also two skunks were found in a haying field and sent to a veterinarian to remove their defense weapon.
Hilton 4 H club held an ice cream social at Hilton church basement on June 11 1957. Meeting opened by president Ronnie Van Zante with flag pledge. Members listed ages years in club and projects. June 28 tour date set with 8 am start at Hilton church and noon dinner at Moravia park. Entertainment included demonstrations recitations talks and solos by multiple members.
The meeting adjourned at 9 45 p.m. with attendees including Mike Lathen David Get vdak Sing Geygers Haivtha Rouse Carl Rouse Don Tibbajs Albert Turner Charles Van Zante Mark Van Zante Ron niie Van Zante Cary MceCoy and arl Rogers. Reporter Karl Rogers was present.

Mrs Gerald Burton was honored with a birthday surprise dinner and family gathering last Saturday at the home of Mr and Mrs Bob Strunk and Barbara with her mother Mrs Iva Strunk. Attending were Mr and Mrs Lazell Strunk Wilbur Donald and Lois Miss Betty Maxine Strunk of Davenport Mr and Mrs Russell Strunk Roscoe Bill Merritt and Bath of Marshalltown and others.
The monthly church night observance was held Wednesday evening at the Evangelical United Brethren church parlors. Members of the Twentieth Century Sunday School class presented the program led by Mrs. Albert Veach and Mrs. M. K. Blackman. The program opened with three hymns and readings by M. K. Blackman, Mrs. John Van Zante, and Mrs. Veach. A women's quartet sang, and Mrs. McCloud led the class in sharing history and membership. A duet by Mrs. Blackman and Mrs. Veach followed with a special number omitted.
A trio including Kenney Dortald Woolward and Alan Robbwang will perform with their grandmother Mrs Harry Woolward at the piano. B Ge Hawi presented the befivdidtiat. The Golden Links class will conduct the church night program. Refreshments of cookies coffee and iced drinks were served by Mrs J T Van Dorin and Mrs Ia Boyer.
