Mrs. Wayne Davis, publisher of the Seymour Herald, was critically injured early Tuesday after a serious accident at the Iconium road and new Highway 5 intersection at the west edge of Seymour. Wayne Davis, former scoutmaster and editor, is among local witnesses as traffic recently permitted on the unopened highway.
The new pavement on Iconium road creates a busy intersection with calls for a four way stop, lighted signs, or flood lighting after a fatal crash left two dead and six injured. Jim Miller of Moravia Driver Education alerted the state DOT, which planned to investigate next. Local streets suffer neglect and planned improvements lag amid rain and other work.
The town faces ongoing closures as local businesses struggle with mud and dust problems causing customers to avoid the area. Without acceptable conditions, further closures are likely, affecting shoppers and the local economy.
Nadine Kay Faber and Fred Edward Squires wed in a garden ceremony June 7 at 8 30 pm. The Rev Dennis Uhles officiated at the Faber home with a lush blue and white decor including a trellis arch and candlelit urns. A reception followed. guests gathered from Moravia Centerville Numa Des Moines and other towns. The couple plan to reside in Centerville Route 4 after a Colorado honeymoon.
