Hilton ministers and parishioners gathered for regular Sunday services with over sixty attendees including Mrs. Smallwood, a niece, and two daughters. The day featured a Children's Day program at night. Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Spencer and family enjoyed a Centerville picnic. Miss Annabelle Clark and Claude Humphree returned from Town Wesleyan for the summer. The Ladies Aid plans a meeting with Mrs.
A run of social visits and events fills a rural county scene. Albertson hosts at north Albia while Miss Carter visits five days with Aunt Jack Spencer. Harold and Mrs Clark spend weekend with relatives and dine with Frank Spencer. Ralph and Louis Davis join dinner at Miss Jane Hilton’s. Lucille Spencer attends a short course at Ames as Monroe Township 4-H delegate. Williams visit Albert McGennin home. Childrens day program draws crowd. Wayne Clark hospitalized in town for treatment while Joe Clark returns home. Leora Estlock travels to Oskaloosa with friends. Hilton Ladies Aid plans an ice cream social at Will Caller home Friday. Roberta Tumphrey visits Anabelle Clark and dines with her. Mrs Ray Ellis visits Mrs G Kingery.
Clara Massman and son Lloyd visited Lea Massman. Mrs Dennie Fenton, Vernon and Dorothy called on Centerville. Frank and Rile Charwick were at Melrose. Cap Dicks and Ned Argo with daughters went Corcord. John Wilson McAninch visited Rex Dicks. Many local families visited, attended gatherings, and children attended summer school in Chariton.
New Hampshire reports booming marriage activity near Nashua with an average of ten licenses daily and most couples wed at the Little Brown Church. County Clerk Albright says the May tally of 120 is likely to be surpassed in June as couples flock to the famed venue.
The Argo family from Centerville spent Sunday at the Ressler and Argo homes. Centerville callers included Mr and Mrs Harry Lemaster and Mrs Edgar Breese and Mrs Blanche DeBerard. Fred Hammond of Moravia did papering for Mrs James Elswick. Birthday group for Bert Rinehart included Henry Rinehart, Ray Rinehart, and D C Hellyer families. Lester Breese drove to Chariton to join an orchestra.
Miss LaFaun Perry and Florence Perry visited with Almona and Evelyn Higly. Families including the Davises, Fosters, and Sytmas are noted for calls and gatherings. The community mourns the death of Myrtle Foster on June 1, with sympathy extended to the family. Onella and Vivian Foster attended a Standard Bearer meeting at Moravia.
