Stansberry Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ogle called at John Moffitt and Eerl Swift homes Friday. E. F. Stansbery and Albia visits Wednesday. Those helping Mary Cox celebrate her birthday included Burdette Cox and family, Ramona and Dale, Oral Easter and Frances Ann, Mrs. Fred Cousins, Howard Brock and family, Leora and Joan, John Moffatt, Mary, Daisy and Roy, Frank Cox family, Bill and Carl, Margaret and Mary Conley.
Community members report attending the Hatches Play while relatives and neighbors travel between Albia and Des Moines. Homer Brown and family plus W A Brown and others were Albia callers. visits include Tom McCrory home and Billie Linder from Minnesota. The funeral for Frank Scott, who died recently, was held at the Christian church in Unionville with Rev. Ay Wilson officiating. Burial followed in Taylor cemetery. Survived by wife Nora Scott and three sons Minor, Oso, and Carl. Minor Scott is a patient at Sunnyslope Sanitarium near Ottumwa and could not attend.
Floyd B. Paddock, extension apiarist at Town State College, warns against removing honey before it is thoroughly ripe. He notes unripe honey spoils flavor and quality, and says honey taken before season’s end should be at least 95 percent sealed to show bees have ripened it.
