Farmers in Appanoose county face a tight deadline with July 20 set as the final day to sign 1956 soil bank agreements and to terminate existing ones without penalty. By last Friday 490 agreements were signed. landlords may sign by August 31. Key dates include July 15 for wheat cutbacks and barley oats or rye adjustments, July 31 for corn cutbacks and flax related steps, and prior to destroying any crop, farmers should confirm requirements at the county ASC office.
