The Meth odist congregation reels after Rev Baxter and family depart Moravia on short notice due to homesickness and health strain. Members recall hopeful reception last week while noting the shock and sorrow over the abrupt move following the minister's first Sunday service.
The Moravia Union reports praise for the Methodist church for furnishing a neat parsonage for the new pastor, while discussing indicators of unity despite fears of the Baxters leaving for Ireland. It covers the county budget calling for 690000 tax take, millage 34.89, and rises in the fair fund and festival support with questions on sustained increases and fair funding distribution. An annual financial report for Independent School District Moravia shows disbursements totaling 80608.69 and a year-end balance of 10841.33 as of 1952.
The Busy Maidens gathered at Dorie and Rosemary Madison’s home on June 23 to finalize plans for their annual ice cream social set for July 8 at the basement. Skits included A Corn Borer by Doris Maddison Janet Walker and Marilois Robinson. Nutrition and Our Soil by Carolyn Hawk Donna Underwood Rose Mary Maddison Barbara Robinson Aileen Turner and Donna Rogers. Teaching Them to Drive by Patty and Donna Rogers.

Moravia residents show a busy home-building pace with several houses completed in the past year and another new project under way this summer. Mr and Mrs Mex Hiner are building on the Unionville road near the G L Gollaher home with the basement finished and much framing done.
A two and a half hour road show with stage and TV personalities will headline six Iowa State Fair nights from August 23 to September 1. The outdoor extravaganza features four large production numbers on over 200 feet of stages, a Broadway chorus, stars from stage radio and TV, a traveling orchestra, and three carloads of scenery. Fireworks will cap each evening show.
