Samuel E. Whiting of Iowa City, grand master of Odd Fellows, will address Appanoose county Old Fellows and Rebekahs at their annual picnic in Moravia city park on Sunday July 31. C. T. Foglesong Moravia chairman says the program includes other features drawing about two thousand attendees and invites the general public to join the event.

Beerys kittenball squad remains undefeated after beating John Whicker 8 to 2 on Friday and George Winslet 10 to 6 on Tuesday. John Anderson pitched well as Beery’s defense held firm. the week features Beerys versus Smiths with Winglers and Whickers also in action.
The Moravia Fourth of July featured local radio practice for announcers, a large municipal band, and a busy program run by Rev Zerbe and committee members. Lost child alerts, rain interruptions, and picnic crowds marked a day of homecoming spirit with stronger committee performance and fewer crowds than past years.

Republicans and Democrats from Appanoose county met in Centerville for party conventions. Republicans nominated J. A. Hoover and Frank McCinsky for board terms, while Democrats chose Dr. Forest Davis for state representative and Dr. L. S. Patterson for coroner. Delegates and officers for state and judicial conventions were named for both parties. Central Committee reappointed Ed L. Simmons and Vera Moss as leaders. Mrs. Allen Boller of Nevada visits local grandparents.
Moravia marked one of its largest Fourth of July crowds with people from Appanoose county and surrounding territory flocking to the park. An afternoon program featured the Moravia Municipal Band, the Moravia High School Band, acts by Tack Nelson and the Harrison sisters, vocal and mandolin music by Madena Wilson, races and contests, and addresses by Purley Rinker and John K Valentine. Rain interrupted and ended the celebration as the Harrison Sisters performed.
Mrs Maggie Pierce died Sunday June 26 at her home 2220 Troost Street Kansas City. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon June 28 at 3:30 and burial followed in Kansas City Cemetery. Relatives include Mr and Mrs Ed McCrory Moravia and Mr and Mrs J L McCrory Fairfield.
Mr and Mrs Emerett Scott Mr and Mrs Clair Brushar and family Mr and Mrs Penny of Waterloo enjoyed a picnic dinner in Ottumwa Park Sunday. The menu featured fried chicken new potatoes green beans deviled eggs onion rolls cake apricots tea and coffee.
