Master Sergeant Lawrence W. Stout announced an Iowa Marine Corps squad will form in Ottumwa for January. All male prospects ages 17 to 23 may join and go to Des Moines for processing, then fly to San Diego for basic training. Applicants may choose career path or shorter terms if IQ is higher. Contact Sergeant Stout in Moravia Wednesdays 9:30 to 10 a.m. or write to the Ottumwa Sub-Station.
Nationally known Elk's Chanters of Masestine will perform at Albia high school on January 27 as a fundraiser for Monroe county 4-H fair grounds. Goode Seed and Feed Co and Kent Feed Co cover costs. Albia school provides the venue free. The 82-voice chorus, champion in St Louis, tours the Midwest with 25 to 80 concerts yearly. Tickets available from 4-H leaders or the Union office.
