Moravia High School will field a boys glee club quartet comprising Kenneth Cullers Harold Mason Noorder Slavin and Hall Swaim DD. The junior class held a hard time party December 20 with games and refreshments.
The Frank Swaim store stock has changed hands to the Brody Stores of Albia and Centerville. Y W Tracy sold the stock and left management after the invoice. The Brodys plan a genuine clearing out sale, following a previous pattern when they acquired and closed out M P Main and Son stock.
A terse plea advertises a $10 reward for evidence leading to conviction of anyone who dug up a human. The message mentions H. H. Pabst and Gray family of Mel, with a note about Christmas visitors at KE. Cumming home in Moravia.
The Moravia P T A constitution outlines objects to promote child welfare and home school cooperation, membership dues of ten cents, officer roles with term limits, nomination methods, executive committee structure, meeting cadence every six weeks, and standing committees for Membership, Program, Publicity, plus additional provisions for parliamentary authority. It designates officers including president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and historian and details duties and proceedings custody.
The seventh Annual Odd Fellow Father and Son Banquet was held at the Moravia hall Thursday evening with about seventy attendees. Entertainment by the Breezy Boys orchestra impressed the crowd, followed by a short toast program led by Attorney Chas. E. Miller of Albia. Rebekah ladies served a sumptuous banquet, praised for generous service and quality.
The flu has struck the Moravia Union camp, forcing chief operator-printer Ray Hillyard to stay home with a high fever. As a result the Moravia Union will be printed under difficulties this week and may run a few hours late. The editor admits to being extraordinary but not enough to handle two roles and keep the paper on time.
The text states that Farmalje Roberts' rules of Order Revised govern the Association for matters not covered by these By-Laws and that amendments require a two thirds vote at a regular meeting with prior notice of the proposed amendment. It notes Article IX and the need for regular meeting approval.
The annual election last Thursday evening chose officers for the local Modern Woodmen lodge. W. Ralden was elected vice president, B. E. Winlarsw as clerk, A. P. D. Schreiner as banker, C. Coulaon as clerk, Wm. Burns as equalizer, Dr. C. T. Slavin as physician, C. C. Waughop as trustee.
The Moravia Independents opened their season at Centerville, losing 31 to 19 in a preliminary to the Town Wesleyan I S U contest. Moravia trailed early, then fought back with a crisper attack led by former Moravia High School stars Hale Slavin and others, though Centerville held on for the twelve point win.
The local high school basketball team will play two games this week after a holiday break. They visit Lou Isa la on Friday and Moravia on Saturday with Hedrick High School. The Bluse and White have practiced daily during the vacation and expect to be in good shape.
The Furnwers Union holds an all day meeting at Woodman Hall in Albig starting Monday with a forenoon business session. Public attendance welcomes Mr Hess of the Chicago Live Stock Commission firm who will speak on the evils of direct selling of live stock. Dinner at the OU B Church on Wednesday.
The United Brethren Church invites all to make Christ the center of life in 1929. Sickness remains in the community but worship gathers strength with a full 10 a m Bible School and 11 a m sermon. Evening service at 6 30 p m at 7380 p mi follows. D Winfield Thompson.
The last Sunday drew small crowds as the building was cold and illness kept many away. Ep worth League had strong turnout while the Church Board approved heating plant changes for better service. Nest Sunday marks the first Friday in the New Year with efforts to welcome members back and invite others to revive church involvement.
Thomas L Frisby aged 78 and longtime county resident died last Friday at his daughter Mrs John Veach home in Moravia. He served as custodian at the Drake library in Centerville for 16 years and earlier was a farmer. Born in Coshocton County Ohio, he moved to the area in 1873. He married Lyda Ellen Hollingsworth in 1875, later widowed, and married Fannie E Aghton in 1888. Surviving children include Charles Frisby of Pelican Lake Wisconsin and daughters Mrs Clark Hollingsworth of Centerville and Mrs John Veach. Two wives preceded him in death. Funeral from Centerville Methodist Church Monday with burial in Oakland Cemetery.

The Iconium Circuit E Church Bulletin lists Hilton and Iconium Sunday School at 10 a.m. Morning Works at 11 a.m. Evangelistic Service at 7:30 p.m. Maine Fairview Sunday School at 2 p.m. Preaching Sundays. Last Sunday marked the end of the old year with good attendance despite flu. Dr. W R Keesey ill at home. Rev. Burton Tarr of Cornell College attended. Next Sunday Hilton services at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Puiview to elect officers at 2 p.m. New Year resolution to be punctual for services.
The Church of Christ held a Bible School at 10 a.m. with communion and preaching on The Lord's Supper. Christian Endeavor met at 6 30 p.m. with Making the World Better led by Marjorie Morris. Evening preaching at 7 30 p.m. Ladies Aid meets Wednesday after church. choir practice Wednesdays. Leslie Goeldner, Fort Dodge educator, visited his Moravia brother M o H Goeldner last week.
Harriet C Thomas aged 96 years 8 months 25 days longtime Jong ting resident, died December 29 1928 at the home of her daughter C E Winslet in Moravia. Born April 4 1832 in Springfield Tl she married Frank C Thomas in 1861. Survived by daughter Rose May Winsler Moravia son William Thomas Los Angeles Calif four grandchildren six great grandchildren and many relatives. Funeral from C E Winslet home December 31 officiated by Rev G J Pix. interment Moravia cemetery.
Charles Sellers son of a Dex Moines municipal judge was exonerated from a warrant tied to the Moravian State Savings Bank robbery on October 6. Bank officials and witnesses near Udell and Promise City identified a bandit in a photograph, but Sellers proved not to be the robber and was returned to Des Moines. Investigators Yackey and Gaughenbaugh vow to continue the search for the true culprits.
