Moravia FFA won the silver trophy and placed first overall at the sub-district contest held Thursday Feb 19 in Corydon. Seven Moravia chapter members attended with Creed Speaking and Welding each earning gold awards. others received silver. Eugene Fry and Craig Vance advanced to the district meet set for Saturday March 7 in Albia.

The United Methodist Women of Grace and Salem met at Salem on February 18. A skit titled A Stranger Within Thy Gates was performed by Martha Van Sickle Venetah Tubaugh Elaine Murdy Grace Whitehead and Vicky Moore. Gail Tuttle gave an inspirational talk on A Nation Under God. Barbara Sievers read a missionary letter from Frank and Martha Kuhlman of Kobe Japan. Injured Carol Kerr in Sunday Moravia crash services held
Mrs. Carol Kerr of Iconium was seriously injured when her car left a ditch and rolled near the Hellyer farm five miles west of Moravia on Sunday. She was treated in St Joseph and Iowa Methodist hospitals. surgery followed as her condition worsened. Funeral services for Lola Irens Morrison were held February 23 at Miller Wehrle Funeral Home with Rev Donnel Logsdon officiating. Morrison, born May 17, 1919, in Rose Hill, died February 20 in Pontiac Michigan after illness. She leaves a husband Ivan Morrison, a daughter and two sons, three sisters, three brothers, and 11 grandchildren.

Elbert and Vera Moore of Route 1 Melrose celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday March 7 1976 with a family dinner at the Carriage Light Inn Albia. They wed March 8 1926 in Albia and farmed west of Moravia before retiring. They have two daughters two sons fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
