Public Hearings Delay Legislation in General Assembly
The Farm Bureau defended as educational the bill and compulsory military training. A large majority adopted the committee report. Hearings delay progress as organizations seek public hearings on issues including assessments, income tax, county assessor, utilities, and the state patrol system. Trucks drew big hearings with a strong trucker coalition opposing size and weight limits. Billboard operators opposed tax fairness without broader advertising taxes.
