CCC sales to drive feed grain market in 1985

CCC sales policy, carryover stocks, and regional price differences will shape prices with January levels 4 to 7 cents above resale. Prices may reach about 1.38 dollars in Central Town by summer and around 1.25 in Eastern Iowa, depending on CCC sales pace.

Futrell notes 1964 total feed grain production at 137 million tons, down from 156.4 million in 1963. Harvested acreage cut and lower yields cut corn and related crops, with sorghum off 17 percent, oats down 10 percent, barley slightly down. Fall carryover rose as 1963-64 feeding use lagged 5 million tons behind 1963 production.
