A reader from Grand Junction Colorado sends a note to The Editor apologizing for a late renewal and requesting additon of their son Bobby Dean Caster seaman second class to the Colors list. The letter mentions family letters from home and hopes to visit Moravia.
Brompton host M. E. Boardman and Glen Garrett families shared dinner near Chariton while E. F. Boardman and Wilma joined the Russell Darby home. Lorraine Jones visits her parents C. L. Jones after working in San Francisco. Perry Collins, uncle of J. E. Stafford, called on Friday. M. E. Boardman did business in Albia Thursday. Ottumwa guests A. J. Billings and Colleen Brown visited Boardman. Ralph Johnson recovers at home after a tree fall. Farm Bureau meeting at Boardman home drew forty six attendees. Martha Sue visited Albia. George Jim and Larry Reid visited DeWayne Robinson Sunday.
Geo R Darby reports Kinser Valley updates with M M Darby active in wood cutting on Monday. Harry Kosman visited business here Wednesday afternoon. LeRoy Wilson missed school last week due to illness, Zell Wilson drove him to the doctor with Mrs Wilson Thursday. Lloyd Johnson and wife of Albia were Sunday visitors at Henry Systma’s home. Mrs G R Darby has been quite sick the past week.

Maple Grove area residents Ruth Broshar Gabe Johnson and Ted and John Broshar attended a Friday sale near Numa. A party at the J L Dodd home honored those moving from and into the neighborhood. Numerous neighbors visited, shared pie and coffee, and children's games. Several locals listed as attendees and visitors throughout the event and following days.
Wayside residents and neighbors share a flurry of calls and returns. Mrs. Virgil Kaster and Mrs. Vernon Kaster return home from Thyinoia Tuesday while Buzz Murdy was seen in the vicinity last week. Several visitors from Albia and Hedrick dropped by W. S. Norton's and other area homes during the week.

E. More. A Dukes attended to town business while a buyers sale drew a good crowd. Lt Herbert H Price, newly stationed in Savannah, visited with agents Joseph A vice before leaving for Georgia. J C Harris and son Roy of Bloomfield visited, with the Tweedys planning to move to their town property and the Goodwins relocating from the Tweedy house to Mrs Pearl Hill’s home.
Friday evening visits connected the Coulson and Miller households with the Stufflebeam Fischer and Munn families. Central events include a Christian Church dinner for Farmers Exchange attendees and weekend calls among local residents as R. E. Luse began township duties.
The T R Gardner family rents the Von Tracy farm for the coming year. Donald and Lyle Jones spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Des Moines. Mrs Carl VanZante and Ronald Lee visited John VanZante's home Thursday afternoon. The Warren DuVall family were Sunday guests at the T R Gardner home. Hilton youths were entertained at the Ben Jones home Friday evening. Mr and Mrs Diels VanZante of Eddyville and others celebrated their 1st wedding anniversary with Carl VanZante and Ronald at John VanZante's home.
Local notes show Willie Brown hosting and visiting relatives with multiple calls from neighbors. Pfc Harold W Brown of Camp Blanding, Fla., arrives on furlough to stay with parents Willie and Hazel Brown. LeRoy Brown, Navy member stationed at Pensacola, underwent appendicitis surgery and is recovering. Several nearby residents attended W J Anderson’s funeral. Families and friends traveled between Albia, Moravia, and surrounding homes for visits and social calls through the week.
