Moravia Booster club president M. K. Blackman announced a dinner at East End Cafe in the Blue Room on Friday evening February 7. A business meeting follows at 6 30 in the sarung room with reservations required today. contact committee chairman Howard Evans.
George Darby of Kinser Valley reports his son Donald Barry, a Simpson College student in Indianola, plans to teach next year. He is preparing applications and was initiated in the Alpha Psi Omega drama fraternity and elected treasurer of Simpson’s senior class.
Rolin Dille left Sunday to enter Upper Iowa College at Fayette with his parents Mr and Mrs John Dille and Joan. A World War II veteran he was discharged from the army in November. L A Roland home from Des Moines after treatment at Dex Moines Turner ambulance patients were treated at home due to hospital crowding.
Mr and Mrs C A Veach entertained the ETC club and guests Thursday evening with Mr and Mrs Leonard Palmer and Mr and Mrs Harold Hudgens assisting. Norman Ward won the guest prize in rock, and Mrs Lee Hiatt won the club prize. Guests included Dr and Mrs L M Williams, Mr and Mrs Norman Ward, and Mr and Mrs Paul Spencer.

Mr and Mrs Pell Cellen hosted a birthday dinner for Mya Caltey, with Elster Woudeck present. The February 4 event included Clate Spencer and other relatives in a small family gathering.

Ella Lockman, 88, died at her Moravia area home Sunday at 4 16 a m after a short illness. A community pioneer, she lived on the same farm over 75 years. She was predeceased by husband William Perry Lockman in 1921 and daughter Beulah Irelan in 1942. Survived by son-in-law John Irelan, two brothers Ezra and Fred Coltrain, and sister Florence Gibbs. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Knedler funeral home Blakesburg with Rev Roscoe Morrison of Ottumwa Harding Park Open Bible church officiating. Burial in Sales cemetery.

Mrs Lester Gordon and grandson Bobby Barrickman visited. Anna Gordon stayed with her grandmother in Udell. Mrs Howard Minks visited her mother in Exline. John Claxton left for Goodlin Kansas for a new job. Alva Cridlebaugh and Ruby and two siblings visited Sunday. other families were home in Knox County.

Moravia varsity routed Allerton 51 to 13 in a Monday night game as Halftime 33 to 8. Lawn hit 18 and Baldwin 12 for Moravia while the second stringers saw most playing time. Girls fell 39 to 33 to Allerton with Laws of Moravia scoring 19 and Arnold of Allerton scoring 16.
