Mrs Frank Main died at St Joseph hospital Center ville on a Friday evening after a brief illness. She was born Nannie Louise Tarr March 10 1896 in Appanoose county to John and Regina Tarr and married Frank M Main in 1910. Funeral services were held at Moravia United Brethren church with Rev. F C Scott officiating. Interment Salem cemetery.
The Tarr Family thanks neighbors and friends for sympathy and help during bereavement and for floral tributes. Special appreciation to funeral directors Turner and Son for their thoughtfulness and tireless efforts in our behalf.
Dwight M. Yeager an 83 year old farmer was found dead by his relative near Blakesburg on a Saturday morning. The cause was self inflicted action with a hoe sound noted in early reports.
H N Utterback postpones a sale of household goods and personal property of the late Mrs. Louisa Dodd to Thursday February 8 at 11:00 am. C M McFatridge executor and the Delph Pence farm on highway 60 hosts a public sale on February 21 at 1:00 pm. Nash and Dale Perry announce a farm sale at the Pence farm February 2st near town.
Tom Sith 73 died suddenly at his home near Hilton Friday night at 10 p m after retiring. He lived in Monroe County most of his life and was a member of the Albia Christian church. Surviving are his wife, two daughters Mrs Will Steele Rus wel and Mrs Karl Williams Chariton, one son Clell Albia, one brother Aibs Smith Albia, two grandchildren. Funeral at Albia Church conducted by Rev O M Morgan and Rev W J Hastie. Burial Oak View cemetery.
Mr and Mrs John D Veach were stricken by ptomaine poisoning last Wednesday afternoon caused by tomatoes. Their condition was critical, especially Mrs Veach, but children at school avoided illness. Mrs Frank Veach of Centerville, mother of John Veach, came to care for them.

Moravia and southern Iowa endure record breaking cold with thermometers at 18 to 21 degrees below zero. Roads blocked by new heavy snow drifts as high winds return, delaying trains and delaying coal deliveries. Officials report no real suffering yet, but coal and fuel supply remains tight with workers shuffling orders.
After Congress approved the veterans bonus over the veto, local veterans filed for adjusted compensation payments. Applications are on file with the veterans bureau and handled by Basil Cowell Post American Legion officers Chester Broshar and J. F. Albert. Eligible veterans should bring discharge papers and the adjusted service certificate, plus loan pink slips if applicable. Seymour’s C Noble led the Seymourettes with 19 points as the team total reached 40 to 9. Maxine DuVall totaled seven Moravia points.
Seymour move centers on Clark Blackman and Patricia with a note of grade and violence on North Fourth Street. Blackman, previously of Linby Iowa and Morevia, is identified as the third party in the sequence.

J W Halden 72 a Moravia resident for 98 years died at home about 5 am Wednesday Feb 5 after a two day illness from a stroke and long prior illness. He was born July 20 1863 in Warren County Iowa and held roles as city marshal deputy sheriff pharmacist postmaster and community leader. Survived by wife Etta Berry Halden five children and several siblings, with funeral at Moravia United Brethren Church at 2:30 pm with Masonic services and burial in Moravia Cemetery.
Blakesburg high school girls and Moravia boys basketball teams will oppose the Blue and White this Friday at 7:30 p m. Weather and roads permitting large crowds are expected. Next week the teams travel to Centerville for Appanoose county contests with the girls at 7 p m Wednesday Feb 12 and the Moravia boys at 10 p m Thursday against the winners of earlier games.
Ida McKern and Fred Dietznan united in marriage on February 2 at their Rockford home venue. Attendants included Trenton McKern Lee Hiatt and the Welins Clagby and Dietenan families. They will reside at 1292 1st Avenue Rockford after the ceremony.
