Samuel Blumer Dies After Brief Illness at 91
Samuel Blumer a Union township resident for thirty years died suddenly at home after wood carrying. Born in Engl Switzerland on Nov 1 1839 and immigrating many years earlier, he married Mary Ann Coop on April 2 1872 and fathered sixteen children. Survived by wife and eleven children, sister and brother, many grandchildren and friends. Funeral services were held at Miller church and burial in Glasburner cemetery.

Pabst Car Damaged In Unusual Accident
A Whippet sedan owned by Chas Pabst was badly damaged in an unusual hit and run-like incident. A truck rack protruding from a passing truck struck the car, overturning its top and body. A Corydon resident later came forward to pay damages, citing he did not know the extent of the damage at the time. The accident occurred near the Milwaukee overhead bridge, with Sheriff Wales notified in Centerville. The date notes Thursday, Feb 12, Lincoln's birthday.

Martha J Phillips Died At Unionville 1981
Mrs Martha J Phillips died at her Unionville home February 1 1981 at 11 86 p.m. Survived by son Ralph S Phillips and daughter Mrs Estella Lyon and husband A L Lyon, she would have been eighty six in April. Maiden name Sawyers she was sister of Dr S H Sawyers and aunt of Dr C E and Rev Matt R Sawyers. Last of eight children from Giles county Tennessee moved to Town as a child and remained a resident. Widower H T Phillips died twenty years ago. Daughter and son in law cared for her. she was wheelchair bound after early limb loss and a later broken leg. Charter member of Unionville Presbyterian Church later joined First Presbyterian Centerville. Funeral Tuesday 2 p.m. at Baptist church led by Rev Mott R Sawyers and burial in Unionville cemetery.

Reister Zerbe Nuptials Surprise Steamboat Springs
Miss Irene Reister wed Donald B. Zerbe of Moravia Iowa in Denver on January 21. She is the daughter of Mrs Conrad Reister near Steamboat Springs and was raised here. A 1930 Steamboat High School graduate, she worked as a stenographer for F A Metcaly and J H Burroughs. Zerbe, son of Mr and Mrs J W Zerbe Moravia, has long been with Great Western Sugar. The couple aged from Beaver arrived Sunday and reside at the Conrad Reister home. Community best wishes extend to the couple. The I C B Lodge held a well attended get together with games, a short program and enjoyed refreshments.

After hours of debate the Iowa House approved a $100 million state road bond constitutional amendment by 607 to 41 amid AG concerns it may be unlawful due to multiple subjects and authority limits. Public hearings on income tax and a county assessor proposal followed as lawmakers discussed tax reform and administrative changes.
