Jack Kaster Escapes Injury After Narrow Crossing Incident
Jack Kaster, son of Mr and Mrs Orph Kaster, barely escaped serious injuries early Saturday morning near Moravia after a collision with a moving freight train at an unlit crossing. He had been returning from his night shift at the Baxter box factory when he pulled around a car stopped near the crossing and entered the path of the oncoming train, which dragged the vehicle fifty feet before the driver could jump to safety. The car suffered extensive damage to the right side.

Ira Foster Dies at St Josephs Hospital Centerville
Ira Foster 75 of Centerville died at 10 30 p m Sunday at St Josephs Hospital after three weeks as patient. Born August 11 1879 he was the son of Ivan and Martha Foster on a Moravia area farm. Survivors include his wife Bessie McCurdy ten sons and ten daughters two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 00 p m Miller Wehrle funeral home Centerville with burial in Haines Cemetery.

Ray McCloud learned of his half-brother Ira Breese aged 78 passing at 3 30 p m Monday at his Pittsburgh home after a period of ill health. Breese born near Iconium moved to Pittsburgh in 1908. Survivors include Ray McCloud a sister Mrs Harvey Main of Centerville and a brother A A Breese with several relatives to attend the service in Pittsburgh.
