Cub Scout pack 40 held its first Pinewood Derby January 25 at the community building with dens racing two cars per heat. Dennis Condra won the grand prize miniature loving cup after den winners competed, prior pledges, new flag, and awards including Wolf Badges and Arrow points. Bob Robinson and Sam Hinds graduated to Boy Scouts as February plans feature a Blue and Gold Banquet.

Mrs. Fred Coltrain sustained a fractured left hip Wednesday in a fall at her home east of Moravia. She was taken by ambulance to St. Josephs hospital in Center ville and underwent surgery Thursday. She is recovering satisfactorily.

Moravia Girls Win State Radio Speaking Contest
Moravia high school students Marsha Stewart and Linda Arnold won first place in the Iowa Tuberculosis and Health Association annual state radio speaking contest for Respiratory Diseases. They will present at the ITHA meeting in Des Moines May 3 and 4. Also competing were Lawrence Daniels and Nancy Crabtree, with speeches aired on KCOG Centerville in December 1966 about Christmas Seal and Tuberculosis.
