Fred G. Matherly MM2c son of Mrs. Laura Matherly of Moravia Iowa wins the United States Navy bantamweight wrestling title at the All Navy finals in Long Beach California. The Mountaineer notes enlistment details and his 26 years of service aboard the Navy ship, praising his composed performance as he defeated rivals to claim the championship.
Rev O J Fix, pastor of Moravia, will broadcast from Ottawa over WIAS each weekday morning starting February at 7 15. The program titled Human Suffering and Consolation invites Finanda to attend, offering religious guidance through a ministerial broadcast.

Farmers in Appanoosa county may receive federal feed aid via the county relief organization. A Centerville meeting reviewed obtaining a grant for storage processing and distribution. About 65 cars of feed are requisitioned with 75 percent wheat and 25 percent corn, to be supplied through Rat Aurphus Incorporation. Two weeks expected until grain arrival, with township inspectors handling applications and distribution to those in dire need. Arrangements for other Iowa counties are being made.

Tom Hall of Parnell receives word of his father 7.£. Hall death at Summerville Missouri last Thursday and his mother dies Friday. Parents had been ill long, but deaths were sudden. The Hall family traveled with relatives to Summerville after the second message.
Workers handling the corn-hog contract campaign in Taylor township report nearly 100 percent of farmers signing up. The effort spans county and state levels with sign-ups to continue after today. The Moravia Community Building hosts a session on Tuesday February 6 for those who have not completed worksheets and signed the contract. Taylor township committee members are A. G. Turner H. E. Glick and Wilson.
Official notice from Apncone County Treasurer W. B. Haught announces a reduced automobile license fee schedule effective immediately. Refunds will be issued to those who paid higher fees. reductions apply only to vehicles registered three times or more, with weight charges remaining at 40 cents per hundred. The value-based portion becomes 75% of the original rate at three registrations, 60% at four, 25% at five, and is eliminated after six registrations, leaving only the weight fee. A $14 exhibition license is available for 15 year old or older cars used for educational or fair purposes.

Sunday School sessions begin at 8 or 10 with morning worships before 11 and 9:41 at Hilton and Fairview. Young People events, Epworth League meetings, and a county wide Christian Endeavor anniversary on February 2nd are planned. Revival meetings start in March with community night and Farm Bureau events February 13 at the Community Hall.
Mrs Slavin hosted Kensington Circle at her home last Thursday afternoon with all members present. Each member answered roll call with a quotation from a president. Mrs Bishop and Mrs Roosevelt gave papers on the life and presidency before a cordial social close.
