Multiple new or renewal subscriptions to The Union paid by residents including Dyphon, Coap Barrett Coffin, Dodd, Carter, McCoy, Wold, Perry, Howell, Hammond, Whicker, Hiner, Weatherby, Monroe, Cottingham, Fox.
The District Court of Appanoose County Iowa appoints Lee Hiatt as executor of Ida J Powell deceased. Creditors must present claims legally authenticated to the court for allowance and all debts are to be paid to the executor. Dated December 15 1947. Attendance at Sunday school Dec 21 was 42 and after the program guests included Mr and Mrs Dane Caylor and Mr and Mrs Bill Wilson at the Floyd Wood home. Several neighbors visited, Miller school recesses for vacation, and a Farm Bureau party was held with many attendees.
Governor Cyrus C Carpenter received a telegram on November 17 1873 about an impending prize fight near Counsil Bluffs. At the sheriff’s request the governor sent militia, the first state force used in Iowa to preserve peace. The Allen Hogan heavyweight championship bout was held at Pacific City despite the warning.
