Meeting Tuesday Night Advances Local School Reorganization Plan
The Moravia Antiquity Lodge held an annual election of officers and a turkey supper as part of a meeting that endorsed forming the Moravia Community School District. Petitions were prepared to call an election, with hearings to be scheduled and votes limited to residents within the proposed district. The plan, covering about 14 school districts in southern Monroe and northern Appanoose counties, aims at a tax estimate of about 23 mills on an assessed area of 3,337,000 dollars.

Thieves Break Into Hilltop Rink Steal Candy and Skates
The Hilltop skating rink was broken into Thursday night. Thieves pried open a door and carried loot to a car parked on the highway, stringing candy bars between the car and the rink. They took candy, pop, shoes and expensive precision skates. Owners Mr and Mrs A D Kinkade estimate losses around 280 dollars, partially insured. It is the rink’s first break-in.
