A ferocious blizzard struck Thuraday night and Friday across Moravia and surrounding Iowa areas, described as the heaviest in years. Local estimates place snowfall around fifteen inches, with heavy drifts blocking roads and halting traffic in several communities.

Rural teachers gathering was postponed indefinitely because the roads into Moravia were unsafe. No reschedule date was announced.

Last Thursday Lee, a resident west of Morravia on the Iepnant road, narrowly escaped serious injury when his clothing was caught in a power saw shaft during a wood- molding operation. He was stripped to his shoes and a wrist band, but Hiatt braced himself and prevented worse harm.
A display of clothing labeled as RIATT and described as mute evidence appears in two store windows at the Union office. The exhibit, themed around a peculiar case, has attracted unusual public interest this week.
An amusement at a Moravia site ended with Lee narrowly escaping injury when his clothing was snagged by a turning saw shaft. Willard Cloyed an eighth grade student at Hedge College School and son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cloyed recounts a hunting story. While his brothers Wendell and Wilbur waited, a fox charged and Willard fired with a 410 shotgun, dropping the fox in its tracks.
Dwight Arthur Purvis son of Ed and Gretchen Purvis of Gary Colorado died at home on November 29 after a brief illness with pneumonia He was born October 24 1983 in Gary Colorado and died at age one year one month nine days Surviving relatives include his parents one brother two grandmothers and many uncles aunts and cousins Funeral services were held at the Maine Station church with burial at Fairview cemetery in Moravia Interment followed at Fairview cemetery in Moravia Tuesday afternoon
Mr and Mrs F H Coulson and Mr and Mrs Chas Johnson with their families visited the W W Zahnizer home near Oskaloosa for Thanksgiving Day. The event surprised Mr Zahnizer on his birthday. A bountiful supper was served at noon.
The Moravia Parent-Teachers Association postponed its regular meeting scheduled for Monday at the school house due to poor road conditions. The planned program by the Unionville EPA Union was to be arranged for a later date.
Co-Operative Marketing Association official C. C. Jona says a car load of hogs shipped to St Louis by rail on Tuesday. A mixed car of hogs and cattle is planned for Thursday to St Louis.
Miss Nora Duncan age 65 was found after three hours lost in a heavy snowstorm near Moravia. She stumbled into Don Hayes farmyard northeast of Moravia while visiting her brother Homer Duncan. Despite exposure she appears unharmed and rescuers had been alarmed after she went missing during the storm.
A wedding took place at the Albia Methodist Church Parsonage at noon on Wednesday November 28 1934. Misa Katrina Sytama married Lloyd Johnson in a single ring ceremony read by Dr E A Moore with Henry Sytama Ida Johnson and the Johnsons present. Thanksgiving day dinner followed at Mrs Hubert Jennings home with many relatives and friends giving congratulations.
The Moravia Union unveils a modern format with a Page of comics, cartoons and a column by Arthur Brisbane. The paper expands to more pages while columns narrow, aiming to cover Moravia and northern Appanoosa and southern Monroe counties more fully. Subscriptions rise to $1.50 after January 1, 1935, though a $1.00 yearly rate remains available until then.
Antiquity Lodge officers named at a night meeting include H. K. Smith Worshipful Master W. T. Smith Senior Warden Lester Brain Junior Warden and Treasurer. Appointive officers to be named later. Installation scheduled. T. J. Lowe truck line to haul hogs to St Louis and cattle to Chicago on upcoming trips.
