T J Turner was honored with a co operative dinner at his home for his 80th birthday. A cake with 80 candles and many relatives attended, including Mr and Mrs T J Turner, Mr and Mrs C A Turner, and numerous Turner and Halden family members plus others.
Thanksgiving day gatherings at the W H Callen home in Iconium featured family members from Albia Newton Columbus Junction and more. Attendees included Earl Woodcock Gilbert Woodcock Orrin Cullen Betty Norris Cullen Elbert Moore Evga Nowella and many others with visiting relatives from Melcher Dumont Oskaloosa and Udell.
The Appononse county dental society met in Moravia Tuesday evening and enjoyed a turkey dinner at the Moravia Hotel.
Clarence H. Swaim of Drakesville born Sept 26 1883 near Unionville Iowa married Addie More Oct 29 1904. He served as postmaster moved to Drakesville 1923 and died November 29 1935 after hospital care in Ottumwa. Survived by wife two children three brothers five sisters and many friends. Funeral at Drakesville Methodist church conducted by Rev Luther W Childs and Rev D W Rood with burial in Unionville cemetery by Masonic lodge.

The annual Christmas Seals drive for tuberculosis awareness and funding starts in Moravia and across Iowa led by the Iowa Tuberculosis Association. Governor Clyde Herring’s proclamation urges all Iowans to support the campaign, with school children distributing envelopes containing seals for passively collected donations.

Nancy Lenora Main Orner, born 1867 in Moravia Iowa, died November 20 1935 at Perkins Oklahoma. Funeral at Perkins Christian church burial Memorial Park. Survived by husband Frank C Orner four daughters mother Sophia Main Stillwater sister Hert Wiley Oklahoma City brother George Main Stillwater and one grandchild.
Mr and Mrs Wm Gardner visited Oskaloosa on Monday evening for a hatchery operators group meeting. They were entertained at a cooperative dinner by Mr and Mrs Y C Ramseyer and enjoyed an interesting program after the supper.
A Monday night gathering at the Harold Argo residence celebrated Mrs. Argo birthday anniversary with friends Will Free Leonard Perry Dell Hellyer and families. Progressive rock and candy plus apples were served. Other local visits and Thanksgiving guests are noted.
Ten Moravia area residents filed applications for the postmaster position before the November 22 deadline. Among them are John E. Dille, Harry R. Lemanter, James D. Minnes, Dofin Horstman, Q F Albert Mra, Ellen Ward L Burdette Ward, Robert L. Tarr, H G Firkina, and David J. Tillmont. Former postmaster J F Albert is not eligible to take examinations. Examinations are expected this month or early January, with speculation who will receive the appointment.
A recent business reorganization affects Frank Swaim furniture and Allen & Lewis Albia funeral directors. Moravia store and funeral home will now operate under the Allen & Lewis name with Frank Swaim managing Moravia. See display ad on page seven.
Antiquity Lodge No. 252 A F and A M held its annual officer election Monday evening with Worshipful Master W T Smith Senior Warden C C Coulson Junior Warden L H Beery Treasurer A G Broshar Secretary J B Sneed Trustee L B Hiatt. Refreshments followed at Dotson Cafe after the meeting.
A large group of friends and relatives joined Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Harsh for a bountiful Thanksgiving dinner. Guests included multiple Harsh family members from Centerville Des Moines and elsewhere, plus visitors from Mt. Ayr Ashland Nebraska California and Ottumwa. The event featured hospitality and a late return home for Mrs. I. M. Harsh.

The Tarr family gathered for Thanksgiving at the Robert Tarr home west of Moravia. Mrs. Tarr was installed by her young daughter Roberta. Susie Tarr, a student at Madison Business College, could not attend. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Main and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blumenstock.
