Michael Brown, nine, son of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Brown, earns a fifth place trophy at the Iowa Stock Horse Association Awards Banquet in Coralville. Sister Michele places ninth on pony Matt, and father places ninth in barrel racing. The family collects 28 trophies this summer across horse shows.

Local Soldier Curtis Stocker Promoted in Vietnam
Curtis Dean Stocker 21, son of Mr and Mrs Dwight Stocker Rt 2 Moravia, was promoted to Army Specialist four near Pleiku Viet Bam serving with the 1st Infantry Division. A rifleman in Company A 2nd Battalion 5th Infantry, he entered the Army in January 1969 and was stationed at Ft Polk La before arriving in Vietnam last June.

Moravia fire department responded Sunday afternoon to the Jack Hoffman farm southeast of town to combat a grass fire burning out of control on the field and threatening nearby structures.

Interment for Mrs Norris Held Here Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs Thomas May McVeigh Norris were conducted Tuesday at the Mitler Wehrle Funeral Home in Centerville. She died Saturday at St. Joseph hospital Centerville after a long Centerville Albia residence. Born April 22 1881 in Chorley England she was the daughter of Richard and Deborah Frith Whittle. Preceded in death by husband a son a daughter a brother and a sister. Surviving grandchildren include Mrs Lester Stewart and Mrs Chester Stewart of Albia. Burial followed in Moravia cemetery.
