Decoration Contest Planned For Holiday

The Garden club and Booster club sponsor the annual Christmas decoration contest with two divisions for home and business window decorations. Prizes awarded to top three in each division. Open to town residents and surrounding area. Committee led by Francis Kincade and three others. Details and deadline to be announced in next week's Union.

Moravia Garden Club to Hold Holiday Fair

The Moravia Garden club held its meeting on Nov 26 with 19 members and two guests. Plans were finalized for packing boxes for shut ins and the annual Holiday Fair at the American Legion Home on Dec 4 from 1 to 5 pm.

Mrs Cloyed and daughter join husband in Arabia

Mrs Wendell Cloyed and her 4 year old daughter Cathy left December 1 from New York City by plane to join her husband Wendell Cloyed at Dhahran Saudi Arabia. The trip includes a day stop in Scotland. Wendell has worked for Arabian American Oil Company at Dhahran for two years. Mrs Cloyed is the former Jerry Allen, daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Allen of Geonium. Cloyed is the son of Mr and Mrs Carl Cloyed of northeast of Moravia.

Green Cross Wedding Junior Stockers In Date Is Announced

Mr and Mrs Harry Stocker learned that their son and daughter in law Mr and Mrs Junior Stocker were in a three car truck collision Saturday near Jackson Mississippi about eighty miles west of the city. Mrs Stocker sustained chest and arm injuries and was treated and released. Junior sustained minor bruises and shock. The car was wrecked.

Otha Main 69 died of a heart attack at his Oska loosa home Thursday night. Born in Moravia he lived 35 years in Oskaloosa. Moravia Students to Broadcast in 1954 Radio Speaking Program

Three Moravia high school students will broadcast on KCOG Centerville on December 2 at 5 15 p m as part of the 21st Annual High School Radio Speaking Program. Sponsored by Appanoose County Tuberculosis Association and the Iowa TB and Health Association the event supports the Christmas Seal campaign aiding tuberculosis education and heart disease study in Appanoose county and statewide.

Moravia girls beat Troy 65 56 in ADAC action as Troy guards stifled Moravia in the middle and limited their scoring in the final period. Joyce Brain led Moravia with 39 points while Troy’s Wilkinson topped their squad with 26. Moravia boys won 61 43 with McDanel and McCord pacing the Mohawks.

Service Members in Training and Deployment Updates

Bruce Faber has trained in directing bomb drops from a radar station near Tripoli for 15 days and will fly to Ramstein Base Germany this week. 2nd Lt Richard B. Faber and Army Pvt Jerry E. Pettibone details show Pettibone stationed in Alaska with the 71st Infantry Division while his Moravia Iowa family is noted. Pettibone joined the Army in February.
